Lets not forget how young Devers is, on top of skipping Lowell and going straight to A ball as an 18 year old. If he does an affiliate a year he's going to be in boston at 22 years old (21 if you figure he gets a cup of coffee the year before).
If Devers was a little older and/or spent some time in Lowell/Greenville last year I could see him getting a mid season promotion if he was mashing it. But I don't even think he gets moved up if he's mashing it this year. If he does it will be towards the end of the Milb season.
He's already very age advanced, if he starts moving any faster then as Chris said, it's likely because he is one of the top ranked prospects in all the game. Perhaps he will be this years offensive version of Julio Urias but my money is on him being a really really good prospect as opposed to a really really really good prospect.

In a way his at bats/swing/batted balls remind me of a younger josh Hamilton :0 Hopefully he's not swinging as often. ideally no, but 8 years ago did It matter too much? Josh was an elite bat, sadly we only saw flashes of his ability

If his approach is like Panda's, trade him now.

If his approach is like Panda's, trade him now. All kidding aside, if that comment is about Sandoval/Devers defensively, this is great news.

I don't get the Panda comps. He's a big third baseman from a Spanish speaking country so he's Sandoval?

You guys are too funny. "Will need to monitor body, but the hands and arm are fine and the first step isn’t bad."

TRADE HIM NOW THEN.
To me its pretty obvious he's talking about his body and ability to make it work at 3rd base.

If Devers is like Sandoval, then I hope it's the 2009 version of him, and not the current version that the Sox have.

You guys realize what the odds are at this point of Devers having anything close to Pablo Sandoval's career, right?
Yeah it's not the most exciting comp in terms of ceiling (though the guy didn't mention ceiling) but you guys are making it sound like he comped him to Delmon Young.

Where has anyone said that he has the same approach? If Devers ends up having a career like Sandoval it will be a success.

Holy cow people. Talk about making a mountain out of a mole hill...
It seemed pretty clear to me he was talking about his defensive package.

Also it was an off-hand, second-hand comment made during a chat. It might even be less nuanced than if he had made the comment on Twitter. Chill out people.

I think its time to promote Devers, he has nothing to prove in Greenville. It has to be done before he is moved down to the 6th or 7th prospect.

I think its time to promote Devers, he has nothing to prove in Greenville. It has to be done before he is moved down to the 6th or 7th prospect. 1) No idea what you're talking about on him moving down. (By the way, he's moving up to 4 on Monday). 2) He is the 8th youngest player in all of Low A. minorleaguecentral.com/youngest He would be the youngest player in High A by like half a year. There is ZERO rush to promote him. 3) I really disagree that he has "nothing to prove." Let's not act like he's dominating. His line is great, especially considering his age, but .340/.371/.480 with two home runs (which were both hit in the same game against TERRIBLE relief pitching, by the way) isn't showing me he has nothing to prove. He's got plenty to work on at this level, and to me, the only reason to even consider promoting him is to separate him and Chavis, who clearly needs the whole year in Greenville, and to me, that's not a good enough reason to promote him.
