Mike Napoli struck out? No way! .333/.494/.733/1.227, 26.6% strikeout rate in September.

And that pitch is a strike two times to Gomes.

Moore averaging 20 pitches an inning is a good thing

It's just too bad the Red Sox don't have a righty hitting shortstop to take over for Drew in this game.

Your not going to start Xander in game one of the ALDS , lets at least be realistic

Your not going to start Xander in game one of the ALDS , lets at least be realistic He's your best shortstop facing Moore. Joe Maddon didn't have any problem putting every righty he had into the lineup today, including part-timer Sean Rodriguez. But what does he know about managing? Xander Bogaerts might be the most gifted player on this roster and John Farrell hasn't been able to figure out a way to use him for anything. That's a massive failure on his part.

If you want to talk regular season, fine, but this is the playoffs and it's all-hands on deck. If you won't use Xander when a lefty is on the mound then take him off the 25 and put another arm in the pen. It's not like things are going to get any easier when Price takes the mound.

Lester scuffling. Two three-ball counts in the last three batters, and his fastball is down to 93 or so. Missing a lot with his secondary stuff.

Remember when the Red Sox won a playoff game? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

I don't like Lester's body language right now... but I don't blame him especially considering his teammates are being NO HIT right now.
p.s. little known fact. if you say "no hitter" three times fast, BeetleJuice will come back from the undead.

If you won't use Xander when a lefty is on the mound then take him off the 25 and put another arm in the pen. It's not like things are going to get any easier when Price takes the mound. But part of the problem was that he wasn't used in the regular season. And now that you need him, you're faced with throwing a guy with 50 MLB PAs into game one of the ALDS. I mean I'd still have him in there over Drew, but I'd feel a lot better about doing that if he'd actually gotten regular playing time in the last month and a half.

The way Farell used Xander and Drew was completely inexcusable. What, does he think Drew is going to come back next year? Who cares if Stephen is a little butt hurt about being platooned in the final month+ of the season. He's even lucky to have been given a starting job this season and was able to keep it after his early season performance.
