And here I earlier thought I'd spend the rest of the day seething after that missed strike call to S-Rod. What an eruption. I'll be there for the game tomorrow, expecting a much, much different type of game.
jmei, I see you reppin' SP on FG.

Great win. Need a couple more, one at a time.

Great win. Need a couple more, one at a time. And maybe most importantly, they don't need one against Price.

Price has been pretty deadly since coming off the DL in early June. 2.53 ERA and a nearly 10-to-1 K/BB ratio (actually 102/13, which is bad news for a team like the Sox that exploits pitchers who give up the walk). Yeah, he's beatable. But it's awfully nice to have a path to victory that doesn't involve beating him.

I think the reason drew gets these stars vs Lh especially in the playoffs is because of his defense. As we saw with the rays a defensive fuk up can cause you to spiral out of control. And we all know drew has the better glove compared to x.

Don't be so sure. It's going to be impossible to hear anything during games 3/4 at the Dumpsterdome. Think back to games at the old Garbage bag stadium (Humphrey dome) and remember how loud that dump was. Then those d*^n bells Rays fans insist on bringing..
It won't matter if 1/2 the fans are for the Sox. 10-20k Rays fans with bells will make it impossible to think. Wouldn't shock me for TB to announce yet another bell giveaway before game 3 even.

So it harder for the Sox to win there because it's loud?

Speaking of weird pitcher usage, I'm not really into Lester continuing to pitch here. Bring in the mop-up crew already. Right on cue, they cut to the bullpen and it's... Tazawa. Ummm.... They haven't played in four days, and after tomorrow there's another off day. I don't see the issue with getting him some work in a low-pressure situation given that he's never pitched in a playoff game and you're going to be leaning on him for big innings at some point.

That was a huge win for the Red Sox. I felt that was a must win game for the Sox with David Price pitching tomorrow. The Rays played as bad defensively as a team can play without getting an error, and Moore's control is still off. And the Red Sox did everything right this game. They were fantastic. The path to winning is to have Buchholz pitch a gem and hopefully the Sox would do a better job of bringing runners home than Indians did against Cobb and beating the heck out of Hellickson who isn't that good.
The pressure shifts to Tampa. They MUST win tomorrow. If they don't they're in huge trouble. I suspect Price will be his usual tough self. I just hope the 118 pitches he threw last start affects him somehow.

Think Tazawa, Uehara and Breslow are going to end up being overworked by the end of this thing. lets not rush it. The 3 (maybe 4 if Farrell sticks with Peavy) SP got a good long rest and Boston got the blowout today, they got to rest 'em another day, but when it gets close and the starter needs yanked? We all know it's going to be one of those 3 from the 6th inning on.
Lets hold off wasting any bullets and hope the layoff won't hurt.

So Archer came in for just 1.1 innings in a blowout? And now they have to burn Torres (1.71 ERA, 2.32 FIP) for two innings? Am I missing something? Yes, but it's not your fault, most people are missing one very important "something": Maddon is a dumbass and a terrible manager.

Orsello and Eck are the only 2 ppl TBS has hired have heard this post season doing PBP who have a clue. I used to think Buck martinez wasn't all that bad, but man.. Either he is suffering from Vin Scully disease (too long in the tooth at his job) or never was average at best.
