Peavy, Doubront, Middlebrooks, Britton, Brentz, and Butler is a lot to pay for Andrus, I think. Now that I think about it more, even Doubront, Middlebrooks, and Webster/Barnes/etc. (the earlier proposed trade) is a lot.

Was trying to make my previous offer realistic while not killing the present or the future for the Red Sox for players who aren't expendable.
I'm not so sure I like bmitchsox trade simply because they are giving up 2 starters and I'm not confident enough that one of the young guys can walk right in and fill the hold OR that the Red Sox will end-up with a superior replacement. If Dempster was one of the pitchers...I would be less concerned.
I don't feel confident that either trade is an upgrade in 2014 or beyond - but maybe that is the sign of a fair trade?

The Phillies aren't looking to trade Brown for prospects. Amaro is in win-now mode. As they say, denial ain't just a river...

Yeah but i have confidence in Workman/RDLR and im guessing they're going to sign Hudson, although you're right, it would be hard to do. I think maybe a better deal would be Lackey, Middlebrooks and Brentz for Andrus. You would still have Lester/Buchholz/Peavy/Doubront/Hudson or Workman

Andrus is not as highly regarded in Texas after signing that deal. He probably wouldn't be as expensive as some think in terms of talent expended. Texas would be selling him low probably in my opinion, which is good!
Still he would be darn expensive and if St. Louis wants him, there is probably a good reason. Beyond just that their current SS stink. Andrus has been impressive defensively and St. Louis seems to appreciate SS with range.
Put that in the "not going to happen" folder and move on.

There was lots of talk that Kinsler would be traded, that Texas wanted to play both Andrus and Profar. That's exactly what happened. All they had to do was find a trading partner
