Yoon could be pretty good set up guy like Tazawa if he finds his old form. But unlike hyunjin Ryu the best Korean pitcher he doesn't have durability, command, consistency or pitchability to succeed as a starter in the big league. Would love to have another Tazawa in the pen. Very good in the regular season. A clutch performance in the Postseason. Especially against Detroit.

@jonmorosi: Just spoke with Scott Boras. He says he is "very close" to deals for Oliver Perez, Jeff Baker, K-Rod and Suk-min Yoon. @jonmorosi: Scott Boras said today there are still "6 or 7 teams" pursuing Korean free agent pitcher Suk-min Yoon. @danconnollysun: According to source, Orioles have made an offer to Korean RHP Suk-min Yoon. He's received offers from multiple teams. t.co/qayEikdegw@mykbo: Yoon Suk-min is scheduled to throw a bullpen session in front of Rangers’ brass Tuesday in Surprise, AZ t.co/8myDm2Sgpe #Yoon

From Nick Cafardo's article on the Boston Globe.
Suk-min Yoon, RHP, free agent — We seem to be about a week away from a decision on where the South Korean will land. When Masahiro Tanaka was out there, teams considered him the best free agent pitcher, and now Yoon could be that guy. Concerns about an injury to his elbow have subsided, as medical reports have been studied closely by teams. There’s lots of competition for him. The Red Sox, Blue Jays, and Orioles in the AL East have made bids. The Diamondbacks also remain interested, but at this stage “it could be anybody,” according to a National League general manager.

Ken Rosenthal @ken_Rosenthal Source says Yoon and #Orioles are not in agreement. Photo he tweeted might have been a joke between friends. O’s one of five clubs in mix. Roch Kubatko ?@masnroch 2 prominent members of #orioles organization haven't heard anything about an agreement with Yoon. It's a mystery selfie at this point.

*pending a physical, which may be a real hurdle considering the Orioles' fastidiousness and Yoon's injury history.

Sound like a good deal for the Orioles. I wonder if we were outbid or Yoon was promised a rotation spot.

Given the Orioles TV and market situation with the Nationals this type of signing was inevitable. Add in trying to keep Davis and some of their other studs and the plain fact is they can't afford a better pitcher. They are going to continue to draft starting pitchers in my opinion. They have to be in Rays mode.
Rays mode as in letting stars go sometimes and trying to find enough pitching to stay in the race long term. Acting like a small market team which is still committed to trying to win.

He must have been promised a chance to start, hard to see us not bidding 3y/6m if we liked him.

The O's have to make a 40-man move to announce the signing. Wonder if we get Almanzar back yet.

The O's have to make a 40-man move to announce the signing. Wonder if we get Almanzar back yet. They said a few days ago that they planned on giving him significant playing time during Grapefruit league action due to guys recovering from injuries. No clue if that means they won't keep him, but maybe noteworthy?
