Mookie is just over 1 for UZR/150 in CF. The defensive value he'd bring in RF even with a lackluster arm would be just as high as what he gives in CF in all likelihood. He doesn't need to play CF. I think people underrate his arm. It's not Bradley's cannon, but it's above-avg for CF and certainly adequate for RF. I just remember his nearly gunning down Gardner at 2b last year in one of his early games against NY. The ball was off the RF wall and Mookie missed throwing out an excellent runner by about a foot. And you're absolutely right...his range will play way up, and he's likely to improve his routes simply by repetition (the guy's only played OF for a year and a half). Bradley's also heating up a but again after a short (brutally) cold streak. If he can keep those cold streaks short, he's got a good chance at being an average or better hitter for a CFer. Yeah, the Ks are worrisome, but he's hit 10 HR and 16 2b in about 40% of a season's games. That's 25/40 pace. Even at 15/30, with a .250 BA and his usual walks, that's a solid offensive CFer.

Nice clip....I will have to dig out the 2015 clip on him throwing from home plate into the CF fenway bleachers that we saw....
Darn, I was hoping to see the window splat....
He missed the window! Threw too high!

It doesn't look like there's any effort at all, you expect to see this be a warmup lob.

JBJ should really stop talking to Bradford. It's like Bradford is always trying to get him to say or do something silly, then make a big deal out of it. As soon as JBJ goes 1 for 15, he'll be pushing the bus to get the kid out of town.
I wonder how he got him to throw that football - "Can you throw this, so we show everybody how great your arm is".
All that said, happy there's a reporter actually down there to tell us what's happening. Spring training!

Interesting to see a football thrown....as I knew a college coach who used to have his pitchers throw footballs to build arm strength. Of course that was in the stone age of training techniques.....

Gotta love the condition of the agility field on the right. I hope he's getting his work in the cage as throwing is not his weakness.

I think that was also a Tom House strategy IIRC. Throwing a football correctly (using the same technique every time) gives you instant feedback (perfect spiral) that you don't get with a baseball. That's valuable for pitchers who are trying to repeat their mechanics.

When I hear his interviews with them, there's always good natured ribbing by the players toward him, and that seems rooted in trust and friendship. One thing Bradford does, that many fans miss, is toss out the absurd fan opinion, in all its painful idiocy, and let the player address it. I think this is one thing they truly appreciate about him. He let's them speak, unedited, directly to an issue.

Hey, the guy's from Texas. He's supposed to be doing that, when he's not working on head locks and uppercuts, that is.
