Egad, Portland's bats are hot. Looking through their lineup, seems they may have most of the Sox's more promising prospects.

5th double for Marrero = a nice first week; 20 doubles in 104 games last year.

IP H R ER BB SO HR ERA Corey Littrell 6.0 6 2 2 2 7 0 1.69
This kid is worth keeping an eye on. Liked his command A LOT this spring. He could get promoted this season.

Teddy Stankiewicz putting up a much better showing tonight. Thru 4 innings he has given up 2 singles and 0 runs. Only downside is he has 3 walks.

Two more hits for Betts today, including another double. This trajectory looks much like last years when he was sent to A+ in Salem. I'm eager to see what he does once pitcher's decide they really can't feed him anything he can hit and they start nibbling. If the walk total rises after that - even as he maintains decent contact and slugging - the Sox have themselves a very advanced hitter in my opinion, and at an advanced level. If he's doing the .300/.400/.500 thing by mid-summer, they'll probably have to make room for him in AAA rather quickly, probably before the year is out.

Still, it's better than not having any hitting at all.

Nice start for Hernandez.
He could be a valuable extra chip if he could turn it around.

Of course, the eastern league in early april is notorious for inflating offensive stats. Are you being sarcastic? I thought it was exactly the opposite ... but, it really doesn't matter. You can't take any two-week set of stats too seriously, of course ... But, good lord, Mookie Betts is hot in his first ~40 PAs. 469/514/750 for an OPS of 1.264. He's got twice as many XBH as Ks (6-3), and he's even stolen 3 bases with one CS.
