The Mookster already has his line drive single for the day!
Add: He also stole 2nd base and was involved in the 'ol around the horn triple play!

I love how Owens can pitch out a jam. Feed the Mookie Monster!

Lots of pitching goodness tonight.
Somewhat overlooked in all the deserved mookie madness is a equally amazing aa start for Swihart.
More timely power tonight.

Also easy to overlook is that Travis Shaw has been raking lately. He started the year so bad that his totals are low.
I'd be much more comfortable with Swihart's numbers if he took a few walks.
Kukuk with 7/1 K/BB and Salem's pitching was good to see on two counts, Diaz reduced his WHIP and Mercedes put up numbers more like you'd expect.

7 more runs on the board for Salem tonight.
And people were cringing and covering their eyes over the Salem lineup at the start of the year .... wonder how long this unexpected offensive surprise is going to last ??
How many 2B will the Sox system have circling the airport while Pedroia hogs the runway?
With people looking at Betts and Swihart all ga-ga, I would mention Anderson and Exposito. [Though Mookie's start is absolutely Ellsburyian]. Patience -- let the water seek its true level.

It would be a great line -- If I could write it correctly. My brain was caught between two ways of writing the sentence. That's what happens sometimes when you are older than dirt.

I listened to Portland online. Mookie's 2nd hit was a double that he drove deep up the gap and he flied out to dead center on the warning track his last at-bat. Antonellis(sp?) compared it to Jacoby's start in 07. Hmmmmm. He also said even though Henry-O didn't have his best stuff or command. He battled to get thru 6 innings. Give up 3 runs but only 2 Ernie's.

Owens' walk totals have remained concerning in the young season... will he ever find consistent command?

Rijo with a second-inning solo homer. He is up to .350/.480/.600. He probably would have gotten upwards a million dollars if not for the knee injury. Nice he is off to a hot start.

This has been said before, but Salem has a couple of old hitters for the league. People cringed because it's a very prospect light line up, but they've multiple players who should hit Single A pitching just fine.

I'm guessing that a middle infielder from Greenville is going to need to be moved to Salem in the near future. The problem is that they have 3 potential decent prospects for two positions, 2B and SS. They've been playing Carlos Asuaje mostly at 3B but the guy is 5' 9" and 160 lbs.
I'm also guessing that a detailed statistical analysis of Salem would show the run production to be unsustainable. There's actually only one surprise there, Heller. In fact, their best projected hitter, Chester, is off to a rocky start. Salem's pitching on the other hand is looking like an integral part of the "next wave".

Asuaje quietly hits his 4th triple of the year. Tell me Coyle didn't get hurt again. Please.

Asuaje quietly hits his 4th triple of the year. Tell me Coyle didn't get hurt again. Please. I slept through when Coyle came out. I also noticed that Morrero is not in the lineup after an off day yesterday and if I recall, Gibson was at SS the day before that. For those that didn't notice the tweets, Barnes was in the PawSox clubhouse. It'll be interesting to see how they handle the rotation. If I was to guess, it'd be Hernandez to Portland, McCarthy to relief. Owens' walk totals have remained concerning in the young season... will he ever find consistent command? 21 ........ Josh Norris @jnorris427 Salem RHP Luis Diaz sitting between 93-95 here in Winston Salem. #RedSox Retweeted by Mike Andrews This is great news, when Ian saw him in spring training it was significantly less and less than last year's numbers. Maybe the same situation as Ranaudo who's last start (his first good one) featured a sudden 3MPH uptick in his sitting velocity

Followed the tweet to the source and came up with these. Josh Norris from BA was at the Salem game and had several tweets. In reverse order:
Josh Norris ?@jnorris427 5h Winston Salem tonight for Simon Mercedes and some note Courtney Hawkins and Tim Anderson and Jacob May. #WhiteSox #RedSox
Josh Norris ?@jnorris427 5h Then this weekend I'll check out Scranton and, if I have my schedules straight, Greenville. #yankees #redsox
Josh Norris ?@jnorris427 4h Salem RHP Luis Diaz sitting between 93-95 here in Winston Salem. #RedSox
Josh Norris ?@jnorris427 4h Never seen that before: Facing a RHB, Diaz's FB shears a bat so hard that the barrel wound up in the fourth row of the third-base seats.
Josh Norris ?@jnorris427 3h Diaz took care of the Dash on nine pitches that inning. All FBs between 91-93.
Josh Norris ?@jnorris427 3h Diaz is through five innings on 50 pitches. Decent efficiency. #RedSox
Josh Norris ?@jnorris427 3h Well hello there, Simon Mercedes. Sitting 95-97 with a very nice mid-80s slidepiece. Worth the drive. #RedSox
Josh Norris ?@jnorris427 2h Mercedes was 92-94 that inning but was showcasing filthy cut at times. #RedSox
Josh Norris ?@jnorris427 2h Mercedes buries a breaking ball to Hawkins to end it. He's a dude. #RedSox

Also easy to overlook is that Travis Shaw has been raking lately. He started the year so bad that his totals are low. "Lately" being the three games after the three straight rainouts. He was hitting and slugging .118 when Paramount Studios lamely started that promotion to prop up their disappointing Noah. He's slugging 1.000 (7/13, 2 HR) since.

I'm holding out for the promo for their next movie, Solomon. He had 700 wives and 300 concubines, could get interesting.
