Two MLB Network games, I like that. Victorino set to come back soon. I'm bullish on our chances in the division.

I have a feeling this division is going to be mediocre this year. Don't like our line-up. Tanaka and Pineda look great early. But, Pineda is on an innings limit and coming off major surgery. Tanaka is bigger than most of the Japanese pitchers. But, their seasons aren't as long as ours. Not sure he's going to be really good for 162. Moore is a major loss for TB. I don't think Toronto has enough pitching. I love Baltimore's line-up once Machado comes back. If Duke can get a starter and maybe even a closer. They could win it. After some mid-season tweaks these teams could be a lot different. Good or bad. We smoked the Yankees early in 2011 and fell apart. We always put too much into these early season games against them.

Our lineup may be subpar compared to past red sox teams, but its very good compared to a lot of other teams. Our pitching staff is also very talented and deep, with a lot of great AAA arms. Not sure if the O's/Rays have the money to make the necesary moves to win it. Yankees may not have the prospects to make the deals they need to fix glaring holes.

Sizemore RF, Pedroia 2B, Ortiz DH, Napoli 1B, Gomes LF, Pzynski C, Bogaerts SS, Holt 3B, Bradley CF
Pierzynski should always be hitting 9th, or, better yet, hitting the road.

Gomes starting against a RHP shows that Sox aren't high on Nava right now.

Can't wait until Victorino and Middlebrooks are activated to the big league roster which will hopefully have Gomes assume his rightful place on the bench and Pierzynski either bat 9th or better yet just go away and clear a roster spot for Butler or Vasquez. Tanaka could have 10+ ks tonight with that lineup. PS-Thanks for the SP staff for the daily Cup of Coffee which is well done. Let's Go Bruins!

With the Yankees in first place and the Sox bringing up the rear that "Hey lets all laugh at the Yankees" thread looks kinda silly.

Gomes starting against a RHP shows that Sox aren't high on Nava right now. It's also in part that Tanaka's splitter is tougher against lefties than righties.

With the Yankees in first place and the Sox bringing up the rear that "Hey lets all laugh at the Yankees" thread looks kinda silly. Well, I mean both teams have sucked so far, posting negative run differentials. And who on the Red Sox has exceeded (or even met) expectations? Lester is the only one I can really count as having exceeded expectations thus far. Is every single other player on the team going to have a down year? I suppose it's possible, but sounds really unlikely. Meanwhile, look at the Yankees: Solarte, Beltran, Ellsbury, Johnson, Soriano, Jeter, Tanaka, Pineda have all met or exceeded reasonable expectations thus far. Is Solarte going to OPS 900 this year? I'm super biased, but the Yankees have Ellsbury/McCann/Beltran and a bunch of dreck on offense and their pitching is tied to Pineda/Tanaka. The lack of depth is amazing. Over 162 games I'm betting on the Red Sox. Sweep these clowns.

I wish they would go ahead and just slot Bogaerts in the 3 slot. If he had Papi hitting behind him, he would see more pitches to hit, and of all the hitters we have besides Papi, Xander would do the most damage with them.
Not all of us thought the Yanks would be jokes this year. This should be a hell of a pitching matchup tonight. Tanaka gets christened into Yankees/Redsox baseball.
Gomes needs to just sit fastball all night, and I bet that's exactly what he does. He has 12 swings to run into one.

Should be a ground-rule double, I believe.
I forgot umpires can basically do anything they want. Sigh.
