Mookie needs to watch his back.
Red Sox Stats ?@redsoxstats 1h Wendell Rijo, 2B, is the 2nd youngest player in the South Atlantic League and has the 2nd highest OPS with a line of .333/.472/.571

The only team in the Red Sox system that doesn't have a winning record is the Sox, themselves. I wonder how long it has been since this previously occurred?

Another great start for RDLR and people will be calling for him to start over Doubront and Buchholz. And maybe Lackey. Or Lester if he has one bad start.

For real though, as great as Owens has been, Rubby has almost certainly been the best pitcher in the system so far. He is probably the top option for a spot start if needed right now, save for concerns with lining up pitchers' days. And I'll apologize ahead of time for jinxing him.

What spot in the order does Mookie typically hit? From what I've seen he usually leads off.

If Clay goes on the DL for some reason I bet Workman would get the call up. Or Capuano gets the start and Britton is called up for bullpen depth. RDLR has earned a shot though.

How many times does Mookie get on base today? I'm going with 2.

Mookie doesn't need a nickname. His name is Mookie. Good point. That reminds me of a San Francisco writer who put a petition out to get Joe Montana a nickname. Someone thought his name already sounded like a nickname and thought he needed a "real" nickname, so they suggested David W. Gibson. Mookie needs a "real" name.

Mookie is doing great this year against LHP .632/.696/1.000 and against RHP .359/.366/.564, but in only 19 and 39 AB respectively. in 2013 he was LHP .236/.354/.382 RHP .338/.436/.545
The Binghamton Pitcher is a righty, with even splits, but only 2 games in AA (0ER) I will go with 3 to be on the positive side

Through five, RDLR with six Ks and one walk, and he's only allowed one run. Perhaps most importantly, he's only at 78 pitches through five. Efficiency was an issue for him last year, so if he can stay in that 15 pitches per inning range he's got a good shot at getting the first spot start that comes around.

And now through six, he has 7Ks with that same single walk and only three hits allowed. Now at 89 pitches - will be surprised if he comes out for the 7th this early in the season given his injury history.

He already gets on base twice. Make it thrice. The kid is unstoppable.
