If the season ended right now, NYM would have the first unprotected pick at #12:
1. TEX ---- 2. HOU (Aiken supplemental pick, locked in at #2) 3. HOU -1.0 4. COL -1.5 5. CHC -2.0 6. PHI - 4.0 7. ARI -4.0 8. SDO -4.5 9. MIN -6.0 10. BOS -6.0 11. CWS -9.0 12. NYM -9.0
(tiebreaker order of the above teams is HOU, CWS, CHC, MIN, PHI, COL, NYM, SDO, ARI, TEX, BOS)

Who are your top 10 players, as of now, for the 2015 draft amfox? I know Cameron is the consensus #1 but other than that rankings seem to be all over the place

I know Cameron is the consensus #1 but other than that rankings seem to be all over the place In no particular order: Cameron, Matuella, Bregman, Rodgers and Kirby are the early consensus top five. I would put Hooper, Fulmer, Tucker, Buehler and Ferrell (plus Aiken, if he goes the JUCO route) at the bottom of the top ten. It's extremely early, but the draft looks top-heavy in college pitchers and HS outfielders.

In addition to Bregman, we also drafted Fulmer in the 2012 draft

It bears repeating that both Callis and Law said the 2015 class is looking to be worse that this year's, which was one of the 2 worst in the last 20 years. So, yeah, we've got a ticket to the Loser's Prom, but could be very few hotties to dance with.

So, yeah, we've got a ticket to the Loser's Prom, but could be very few hotties to dance with. It is way, way too early. Every year, people's view of the draft changes. Prospects get hurt, they emerge, etc. Right now, we have to make sure there is sufficient depth to get to #10.

Kyle Tucker is from the same area I am. I'll see if I can watch him play in a few games and get a scouting report.

Frankie Piliere ?@fpilierepg 1m Don't let anyone tell you the Cape is lacking in power arms this year. Reviewing notes & I have 31 pitchers who have topped 94 mph or better

Watch Skye Bolt. If he can stay healthy he'll quickly climb to the top 10, if not top 5 position players. Has advanced pitch recognition skills, good wheels and a big arm. The only question, like all these guys, is present power.

If SD wins tonight, BOS moves into the #8 spot.

As we now hit the dog days of August, here is where we stand:
If the season ended right now, CWS would have the first unprotected pick at #12:
1. TEX ---- 2. HOU (Aiken supplemental pick, locked in at #2) 3. HOU -0.5 4. COL -1.0 5. CHC -2.5 6. PHI - 4.5 7. ARI -4.5 8. SDO -5.0 9. BOS -5.0 10. MIN -5.5 11. NYM -9.0 12. CWS -9.5
BOS is 4.5 games out of an unprotected pick and 5.5 games out of the #1 pick.
(tiebreaker order of the above teams is HOU, CWS, CHC, MIN, PHI, COL, NYM, SDO, ARI, TEX, BOS)

This will be interesting to watch down the stretch. With the Sox firesale getting a protected pick is especially crucial as they will need to spend to contend in 2015.

If we can get a top 10 pick we can land a great player with the way this years upcoming class is looking. Great college pitching deffanitly deep there. Some good HS bats and a couple good Colege ones but not deep HS SP, right now any way that is how it looks. Im hoping for a big power bat, but a big power SP will due for also. If some one can emerege as a top leadoff hitter id consider them as well.

The only question, like all these guys, is present power. This is my favorite college positional player. He had a fabulous freshman year at UNC and seems to have all the tools. He plays all out all the time. It will be interesting to see what kind of junior year he has this upcoming season. Definitely a young outfielder to watch.

Getting a protected pick would be nice, but let's face it - having guys like Bogaerts, Bradley, Ranaudo, Webster, De La Rosa, etc. play so well that they don't have a Top 11 pick would be a much better sign for the future than the #14 pick would be.

This. This isn't 2012 when the lineup they were trotting out there featured Mauro Gomez, James Loney, Pedro Ciriaco, Scott Podsednik, Mike Aviles, Danny Valencia before he learned to destroy LHP, Aaron Cook, Zach Stewart, the corpse of Daisuke Matsuzaka, and the like. This is an audition for actual young prospects who will be factors either in Boston or in trades I'm moving to DC later this month and was debating whether or not to get MLB.tv so that I could watch the last month and a half. The maneuvering the team did to set up the last two months over the past few days has probably pushed me towards shelling out the dough.

Bergman can be a special player and cherrington loves middle infielders.
But there is also a high ranked 6'7" pitcher in this draft that looks really good. And cherrington loves tall pitchers.

Bregman. Cherington. Ranaudo. I'm pleading here.

The final two months will be the Sox trotting out a significant portion of their future, not garbage like the stretch run in 2012. So I'd rather the younger guys play well then suck and end up with an unprotected pick.
That being said, with the pitching staff they have, they'll probably still finish in the bottom 10, so it won't matter
