Draft Tracker completely skipped over the Indians last pick... I'm pretty sure it was a good one too. It was Greg Allen who fell quite a bit.

Red Sox pick Stankiewicz out of Semonile State JC last year. They know the school well. Like them going after power arms this year. Probably very signable for slot $ too. Different schools, Stankiewicz went to Seminole State in OK and Cosart is from Seminole State in FL. Oh so they put one at each end of the Trail of Tears? How nice of "them".

So the Sox save $$$ for tomorrow. But the question is, will there be anyone worthwhile to spend it on?
The first issue is that more of the top prospects are being picked earlier, so there may be fewer nuggets available after round 10. But beyond that, with all picks treated essentially equally as far as cap conformance goes after round 10, is there any reason why teams, if they have saved cap $$ over the first 10 rounds, wouldn't begin immediately snapping up the best overslot/signability players when round 11 starts? Who is going to be the 29th best overslot/signability player out there when round 11 begins?
[Maybe the situation isn't quite that bad if some teams spend their rounds 1-10 allotment. How many might do that?]

No team will be able to get a Top 100 guy after the 10th Round, but guys in the 200-400 range sure I expect them to draft and sign 2 of those guys.

If you liked that article I suggest you purchase his book "The Bullpen Gospels". It's a great read.

But the guys they're signing now are top 500 guys, on somebody's list at least. Should we really get excited about giving some middling guy who simply wants more to buy him out of college time or a college commitment something more than $100,000 because we can? What's the sum total of that extra money going to be worth to get more players who seemingly have no significant shot at making a run to be a productive major leaguer?

I'm definitely skeptical of how saving money in rounds 4-10 and spending after round 10 is going to work this year. It just doesn't look like there is enough talent falling to make it worthwhile, but we will see...

Will Reilly go underslot? Looks like he was drafted last year and returned to school. Just finished his redshirt junior season.

Lower ceiling, as Reilly succeeds more on the basis of command and movement than velocity, but a guy who will probably reach the majors, which is more than you can say about most 7th-rounders. He could move quickly through the system.
