Rafael Devers can't be stopped.. you can only hope to contain him. 2 more hits including another triple so far.

Vazquez goes deep for the first time this season, PawSox up 3-0 after the 1st
Devers has since added another hit, SSS aside, his numbers are silly.

Greenville tied 1-1 in the run column, down 5-0 in the hit column. Half way through the 5th.

Greenville being no hit but have a run. Vazquez 2/3 with a HR and 2B.
Ranaudo excellent stats thru five but pitch count is a tad high. Only saw the 5th inning, mostly FB 91-93, CV 78 and 1 change 85. Durham has joined the 90's and has gun readings.

More of same with Ranaudo except more pitch efficient Now at 85 thru 6. Durham announcers impressed with Ranaudo's game and curve, said he was hitting 95 earlier (I saw 93s), talked about injury history going back to Fresh year at college, typical performance caveat last offseason.
6IP 0R 2H 0BB 6K
Another efficient inning for Ranaudo, 95 pitches (63 strikes) thru 7. 7K's now. FB's generally near the knees.
Ranaudo finished after 7. Since the velocity return 4th or 5th game, he's been the PawSox most consistent pitcher.

Well, there is now an ugly fleck on Keith's couch.

Ranaudo last 10 games:
56.1 IP 1.92 ERA 1.21 WHIP .187 AVG 28 BB 48 K .72 GO/FO 1 HRA Most runs allowed in a start 3
Consistent stats that give his team a chance to win every time out.

My theory that they sent Devers to the DSL just to get him at-bats before the GCL season is looking pretty sound about now ... And I think I've been sleeping on Ranaudo a little too much. He's starting to make a believer of me. The whole AAA rotation is doing very well this year, developing very nicely.

That sub-2 K/BB stands out, though. It's tough to have sustainable success if you're walking someone every other inning, especially when you're giving up more fly balls than ground balls and your strikeout rate is good but not great. Not sure I look at this stretch that optimistically.

Not sure I look at this stretch that optimistically. I agree with this. I look at that stretch and see a lot of luck. The peripherals are mediocre. Ranaudo is going to have to do some combination of 1) Walking less guys 2) Striking more guys out and/or 3) Soliciting more ground outs if he is going to be a reliable starter in the majors.
