Would be cool if Henry O gets the start for team USA.

Here's everything i know about Justin O'Connor: -age (22) -stat line (.257/.287/.438) -level of competition (A+) -top tools: +power, ++arm -drafted 31st overall in 2010 by the Rays
Why would he be picked over Blake Swihart? (or others) - (I don't follow other team's prospects much; so I would really like to know what I'm missing)

If the best international prospects would play it mainly would've consisted of VZ/DR prospects.

If the best international prospects would play it mainly would've consisted of VZ/DR prospects. Yeah, for the initial rosters, they only pick two per team. But based on comments the BA guys made on Twitter yesterday, odds are good they'd take Swihart if they need a replacement for injury or if someone is in the majors.

There is already a likely need to replace the injured Carlos Correa and Marco Gonzales was called up by St Louis so I believe that will make him ineligible. Not sure if Swihart will be one of the first two picked based on positional need but he will definitely be in the mix.

Thanks - didn't know the 2-per-team selection process. I guess this really shows how far the Rays system has fallen from its' peak.

Swihart can take Betts place in the Futures Game with Mookie being ineligible now.

CVaz would be on the international team, Swihart on the US team.

Great honor for Coyle and chance for a spotlight upon him as well.
He's quickly becoming the once Sox prospect (positional player) everyone is now watching now and wondering where exactly he'll end up at and IF he can knock down his BB/k numbers before he gets to MLB to more manageable numbers.
With Bogaerts and Betts promoted, Cecchini slipping and himself taking the next step? He could be for real.

Is there any precedent for one team having 4 guys in the futures game, i.e., does the addition of CVaz mean Swihart has no chance of getting added? He seems deserving.

Interesting tidbit from the Keith Law piece about the best tools in the Futures Game (http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/keith-law/post?id=2519). When talking about Josh Bell's hit tool (I know some people in the trade thread have been drooling over him), he throws in a shout out to Coyle.
Probably not surprising, but HO gets the nod for the best changeup.

Tom Kelly chose Owens because he has the most wins.
Our guy benefitted and I'm still angry. You're in freaking Minnesota - start Meyer!

Owens was not helped by his third baseman in the first inning of the Futures Game. Very casual approach by Bryant resulted in infield single.

Announcer, (not Mayo, or Casey, the other one) congratulating Bryant the whole time for making such a nice play, yet he backed up on the ball with a speedy runner.. A brutal play. That entire crew has been on nothing but a pro Bryant tirade the entire game. I hope he's removed soon, just so they shut up about him.

Jonathan Mayo is the worst in the industry when it comes to projection and scouting reports. Giolito is going to be nasty, but I have to admit I smiled when he got shelled. Mayo was sweating him all game.
