Could easily be. They make references to their appendix with details and call it CSAA(MM) above whereas they call it CSAA below. A 30% difference seems like a lot for a quick rule of thumb but looking at all of it I'd pretty much likely come to the same conclusion that it was 3.1 not 2.1 wins (over a full season).

You beat me to the punch. Excellent article (open access) that asks, then answers the question about whether hitters know the pitch framing characteristics of the catcher their up against, and what they do about it. At least it answers it to my satisfaction. Pitch/fx has really had an impact on the analysis that can be done, maybe nowhere more than the role of catching in the equation.

And it would hurt: Teams with ground ball pitchers.

Alex Speier ?@alexspeier 43m43 minutes ago Alderson says there may be opportunity cost for framing pitches, possible correlation with increased passed balls. #SSAC15
For those of you with twitter, the #SSAC15 hashtag will give you a lot of info about what is happening at the Sloan Sports Conference.

Several, but not all, were baseball related.

Vazquez is still one of the more under-rated players on the Sox. I have a feeling that will change this year. He's reached the big leagues, he'll get to stay on the same team all year, he's a real student of the game and he studies all the pitchers, including those on other teams. I think he'll hit enough to bring real value and be recognized for his outstanding catching skills.
