How many will be eligible for the Draft in June would you figure?

I believe everyone but the C, 3B and UT in the 1st team are draft eligible. Can't fully tell from the other teams (there are too many) but you can check it if you have time. Jrs and seniors are eligible (some sophomores too but let's not complicate things.)

Jacob Nix, the Astros' 5th round pick last year who signed but didn't sign but got paid anyways. Is going to IMG academy's post graduate program in Florida rather than JC.

I saw somewhere else that Mike Nikorak was 11th. I like it I thought he was the kind of arm who moves up in the spring, he one of the guys I had liked the most from the little I've read. @hudsonbelinsky: PA prep RHP Mike Nikorak has added 10-15 lbs of good weight. Thickened lower half. Could pitch himself info top 10 picks in June. #MLBdraft Well it seems he is working to prove me right, yep that's his motivation. Draft season is just around the corner.

Trying to figure out what the point is of pushing the draft back. You'd also, in theory, have to push all the short-season leagues back as well, since those rosters are heavily populated by draftees. Is it just to make it so that it's after the CWS? Another thought is that having the draft at the same time as the J2 market opening would be insane to cover. What editors think about I guess...

An angle I hadn't even thought of:
Ben Badler ?@benbadler 3m3 minutes ago Of course, the commissioner's office has also been trying to implement an international draft. Timing sure is fascinating.

Cuts the signing period from five weeks to two weeks. The Jul 15 deadline remains, so a lot of the short season kids will not be impacted anyway. However, the shorter period leaves room for less posturing. Given the success MLB had in moving the deadline from August to July 15, they must feel that a prompt sign/don't sign benefits them. Begs the question of why not June 8 to June 30, but I bet since the college coaches were involved, and the draft interferes with the College World Series they wanted the date moved back.

In the case of RBoldt Nebraska who the Sox selected but did not sign. Can he play as a sophomore then declare like they do in College basketball? Thanks

For the MLB draft you don't declare like in the NBA or NFL etc.
I think the rule is that you have to be 21 or a Junior by draft day to be eligible so some Sophmores end up being elegible. But the vast majority are juniors (or seniors). Keep in mind I'm talking about 4-year college players here. JC or CC players are eligible every year.
So in Boldt's case he is going into his sophmore season and doesn't meet the age criteria describe above so he is not eligible this year. He'll have to wait for next year (2016), when he'll be a junior.
The only way he'd be eligible this year is transferring to a CC or JC like Phil Bickford did. Bickford would have been a sophmore at Cal state Fullerton this year but he has transferred to a JC and will be draft eligible. This is just an example, there is no indication or anything that Boldt would do this.

OF Joe McCarthy of UVA will miss 12 weeks of the season following back surgery.
He was/is one of the better College hitters with 1st round consideration.

"@billazbbphotog: 3 quick 1-2-3 innings for Phil Bickford. FB 92-94, mixing in a few breaking balls. #mlbdraft"
"@billazbbphotog: Bickford out after 5 2/3 innings. Gave up 3-run HR to Sebastian Zawada on high FB. 9 Ks, 3 BBs, 3 H. South Mountain leads 3-2 going into 7."
Not bad for his debut.
Slowly but surely draft season is getting underway.

Aaron Fitt ?@aaronfitt Feb 7 A little #mlbdraft news: @vandybaseball's Walker Buehler will not start in Week 1 due to elbow soreness. Chance he could relieve—day to day.
A guy that's definitely in our wheelhouse at #7.

Kinda amusing that the Red Sox have more money this year than last year with the comp picks and lost picks. I wonder if they'll go under slot at 7 and try to spread it around or just spend most of it right there.
