It's rare to see a pitcher in the minor leagues with 22 decisions but Will Roberts has done in 23 starts. That's pretty amazing.

It's rare to see a pitcher in the minor leagues with 22 decisions but Will Roberts has done in 23 starts. That's pretty amazing. It caught my eye as even more amazing that its split right down the middle too, no facts at all backing this up, but I feel like when you have that many decisions in relation to starts, its dominated in either wins or losses, not a perfect .500 split.

Who on that GCL team (Kopech, Chavis, Devers the three that stick out) will start at Greenville next year? Just Devers per the 2015 team page, but at least one of the other guys will hit Lowell for a month and have us all shouting for a promotion to A ball.

My opinion is that all 3 will be in Greenville playing a FULL season. If Ball and Callahan pass Lowell and head to Greenville, I think Kopech will also. And why would we hold back Chavis and Devers back either? By the way, if interested, the refer to Devers by the pronunciation of DEV ERS instead of DE VERS. No idea if that made sense, I'm on my 2nd drink at 3:00 PM.

I was liking the part about being on your second drink at 3pm, by the way. Enjoy!

I agree that all three will probably start in Greenville. The big question is what position they plan to play Chavis at. If it is 3rd, then the presence of Devers complicates things as both will be in a position where you want them getting a full load of defensive reps at third; Devers due to being relatively rough at the position now and Chavis due to his limited exposure.

I have not yet completed my lower level 2015 projections but I have my doubts that any of Kopech, Chavis or Devers will start in Greenville next year, although Devers would be the most likely of the three, currently. My guess is that the Red Sox could jump J.Betts to Salem to clear out a spot for Devers, if they wanted to do so. More likely, Asuaje, Witte or Rider will be the starting 3B in Salem and J.Betts will be the starting 3B in Greenville. In order to clear a SS spot in Greenville next spring, Lin would need to be bumped up to Salem. I am not sure he will earn that promotion. If he does, I could see Dubon getting the Greenville SS job (the official SP.com projections have him playing 2B), with Guerra and Chavis splitting the Lowell infield next summer. More likely, Dubon and Lin will both start in Greenville, and the kids will get bumped up later in the summer, if they progress. For Kopech, there is an issue of innings limits, so it makes sense to hold him back until short-season ball. As for GCL players more likely to make Greenville next spring, my current projections are that Cosart, Fernandez, Jerez, Miller and Moore will start in Greenville.

Margot keeping on keeping on - 2-2 tonight with 2B.
Asuaje with 2 solo jacks for Salem and Gunkel with a nice outing (5.1IP 8K's). Salem wins 3-0. Game 2 about to start

Margot has gone 21 for his last 46 at bats! that's ridiculous! he is making solid contact obviously with only 7 strikeouts.

Man Margot is HOT! Already 2 for 2 with his 20th double and 2 more stolen bases (39). Average is presently at .288!!
And somehow that little package called Rijo has hit homer #9.

Margot keeping on keeping on - 2-2 tonight with 2B. Not including tonight, since the SAL all-star break, Margot's numbers are as follows: 40G, 49/156, 9-2B, 4-3B, 6HR, 21/15 K/BB, 15SB, 8CS, .314/.382/.538/.920

PawSox making the most out of nothing lead 3-2. Escobar with another nice start, 7.0 IP 5H 2R 2ER 1BB 6K 1HRA. It will be interesting to see if he can return to his days gone by.
For the Margot fans you will be happy to know that when I take over GM for the Sox, Margot will be closer to untouchable than Devers.

Wouldn't it make sense to convert Devers to the OF? There are several good prospects at 1b and 3b, but fewer in the OF. Devers does not appear to have substantial defensive aptitude. So, rather than torture him in the infield, move him to LF where he might become another Manny.

You let him play his way off the most challenging position.

I also think you're kind of overstating the issues he may be having in the field a little bit. He's 17 and struggling a little. This is fine.

We're officially on watch, people. BoSox won. AAA, A+, A, A-, GCL in with Ws. A+ with a lead, and A- starting their second. Been a while since I remember a clean sweep. Too bad Portland got postponed.

Is Escobar in the mix for the 5th SP spot next year? Innings should be built up more and less, and I don't think Workman/Ranaudo have necessarily shined. This next month in Pawtucket may matter, if the FO sees him as a SP. Nice start tonight for him, though HR still a problem.

Listened to the Pawsox online tonight. Mookie had a good night if you don't just go by the boxscore. He was 1/4. His first singled moved a runner from 1st to third. Runner later scored and tied game at 1. Down 2-1 with a runner on 2nd and nobody out in the third. He got a good jump on a ball and made a catch on a ball hit into the right-center gap that was slicing away from him. Runner tug up and went to third. The next batter hit a bloop in front of Mookie where he had to make a running catch and threw the runner out at home. 8-2 double play. Or, is that a JBJ? With the scored tied at 2 in the top of the 8th. Gibson walked. Mookie had a 10 pitch at-bat where Gibson stole second. Mookie moved him to third with a fly ball to right field. Runner scored. I hope we don't trade this kid. He's gonna be a heckuva player.
Forgot to add this. Lavarnway walked in the top of the 9th. Cecchini bunted him to 2nd. Swihart drove the winning run in with a double.

Cecchini going 1-2, BB in a game where the PawSox only got 4 hits is a good sign for sure. He's gotta be feeling way more comfortable and confident right now, it's great.
