Just to be clear OBP = Life. Thats why i love Nava. Agree. In fact, when the Cubs beat the Sox out for Stanton in the off season, I wonder if the back-up plan is a Nava/Victorino platoon in RF with Nava/Brentz being the fall back

Just to be clear OBP = Life. Thats why i love Nava. Nava has a 108 wRC+ vs RHP during a terrible season for him, which is 2 points less than Cespedes.

Nava vs. RHP during his terrible season: .284/.365/.738 - that includes his .149AVE/.210OBP 81 plate appearance start before being sent down.
Nava gets on and keeps the line moving.

Just to be clear OBP = Life. I'm more enamored with slugging pct. Especially, for 4-6 in the order. Because someone has to drive those slow, white guys who don't run the bases well in. But, to each his own.

Well thankfully, statistics doesn't weight data based on raw emotional enjoyability and watchability factor. Of course, smashes into the gap and over the wall are more exciting to watch than a guy walking all the time. But the reality is that OBP causes innings to last longer, pitchers to tire, opportunities for those slugging players hits to drive in multiple runs, etc. It also likely means the player is more selective and won't flail at bad pitches / give up outs easily. Quality at-bats matter enormously. Give me Nava on the 2015 Red Sox, please. We need a LH OF who can get on base consistently against RHP. I think he would slot perfectly into the 2 or 6 slot in the order as a part of a platoon with Victorino (as Guidas pointed out).

You're crazy to platoon Nava with Victorino. Defense and base-running matter too. Nava can't hold a candle to Victorino in either of those departments. And, Victorino has a higher career OPS than your boy Nava. Nava's skill set=4th of.

It's baseball, not math bowl. It's supposed to be entertaining.
In all seriousness, it's hard to imagine winning with 9 Nava's or 9 Cespedes. You do seem to need a good lineup top to bottom, which we certainly haven't seen this year. Everyone needs to contribute on some level. I do think the lineup has been much better with Cespedes in it, we've sorely needed another power bat.

And, Victorino has a higher career OPS than your boy Nava. Nava's skill set=4th of. Just as defense and baserunning matter, so does durability. I'm not saying make Nava a starter. Of course Victorino provides more overall value...when healthy. Platooning would help get Nava's bat into the fold against RHP (something the team really needs) while simultaneously keeping Victorino fresh for when he does play (and for the playoffs, if those eventually come). I don't think Nava is a god or anything, but appreciate what he can bring to a team and don't think he should be thrown away just because hes a slow white guy who doesn't hit home runs all the time. It's baseball, not math bowl. It's supposed to be entertaining. You better build a team like you're playing the math bowl or else there will be zero entertainment in October, which is what really matters. Cespedes has been very solid and it has been fun to watch this team down the stretch and see him smash balls over the monster. Nice to see us put a dent in Toronto's playoff hopes and still have guys competing for spots next season. I'm just hoping Nava doesn't get thrown away because he's not a shiny new toy.

Advanced stats are a perfect way to evaluate comparable players. However, platoon players aren't comparable to everyday players for two significant reasons.
1. They don't have to play against pitchers they struggle against. Everyday players do.
2. They require you to have a complimentary roster place to them. Not one who might be a better fit to actually help your team in other positions.

Stroman looks good for the Jays, His Fastball is working for him tonight. Will be lucky to score a run the way it looks so far.

Well, this week so far Tazawa Pitched Yesterday and Tonight. So assuming what Farrell stated a week ago was true, Tazawa wont be available for a few games.
