Chris Hernandez will get the start for the PawSox. He threw 44 pitches last Thursday in relief of Verdugo. I assume we'll see Ely & Hembree as well today.

Jervis Torrealba on the hill for DSL, works a 1-2-3 t-1st with a K. The Sox leave runners on 1st & 2nd in the bottom half.

DSL Rangers take a 1-0 lead in the t-4th. Unearned run (E-3 on Gerardo Carrizalez) on a bunt after a double & walk.
EDIT - Make it 3-0 after consecutive RBI singles. Still 1st & 2nd, 1 out.
EDIT - Ritzi Mendoza adding kerosene to Torrealba's fire. Single, FC, and 2 walks, the second of which forced in the Rangers' 4th run. Darwinzon Hernandez comes on for the inning-ending K. Uphill climb from here.

Evan Lepler ?@evanlepler 9m Unless Tony Renda has 14 hits or Christopher Bostick scores 24 runs today, Salem's Matty Johnson will lead the league both categories.
Evan Lepler ?@evanlepler 12m Carlos Asuaje is in Salem's lineup. Needs one RBI for 100 on the year.

Now 7-0 Rangers after 3 more in the t-5th. Not the Sox' day in the Dominican.
It's the most runs allowed since the Orioles' #2 squad won 7-2 on August 11. Before that, a 10-1 loss to the Giants on 7/28. They also allowed 11 runs twice early in the season (L 11-9 vs Nationals on 6/4; L 11-8 vs Mariners on 6/12)
Their last (and only) shutout loss of the year was 1-0 to the Nationals on August 7.

John Tomase ?@jtomase 24m Castillo works bases loaded walk in 2nd PA. .
Nick Cafardo ?@nickcafardo 4m Rusney Castillo plays a very shallow CF.
John Tomase ?@jtomase 3m Rusney Castillo fielded a clean single to center at GCL game in Tampa. That's been the extent of his action so far.

GCL Sox leading 2-0, t-4th. Scoring was on a Chavis bases-loaded grounder in the t-1st, and the aforementioned bases-loaded walk by Castillo in the t-2nd.
Cosart has limited the MFY to a 3rd-inning single while racking 5 Ks.

Asuaje with 2 RBIs in his first AB to get to 101 for the year. Impressive stuff from a guy not very highly regarded by many.

Luis Ramos relieves Cosart, tossing a perfect t-4th for GCL (F9, G4, G4).
Rusney PA #4 in the t-5th:
That ended the inning, and he's back in CF for the bottom half.

MiLB's live boxes are running slow today, but in the t-5th GCL Sox put up a 4-spot on a Guerra leadoff HR, a LAx Basabe RBI double, and RBI singles by Kemp & Fisher before Rusney's pop-up.
The MFY get a leadoff walk (just their second baserunner of the day) but nothing more as Ramos works his second scoreless frame with a 6-0 lead.
The Sox go down in order in the t-6th, and LAx Basabe replaces Castillo in CF to start the bottom half while Derek Miller takes Basabe's spot in RF.

DSL Rangers tack on another in the t-7th to take an 8-0 lead, but the Sox avert the shutout in the bottom half as LAj Basabe triples & scores on a WP.

Nine outs to go with a 5-run lead for our first ever GCL championship. We'll see if this is a pre-2004 Sox team or one from then and beyond.

MFY get on the board in the b-6th (triple, single), and they're up again in the b-7th trailing 6-1.
