I wonder how many of the Sox beat writers who swarmed the Yanks' complex to cover Rusney are actually sticking around to see the if the GCL Sox can wrap up the title.
I'm setting the over/under at 0.5 -- and taking the under.

Nine outs to go with a 5-run lead for our first ever GCL championship. We'll see if this is a pre-2004 Sox team or one from then and beyond. Now 6 outs to go. GO GECKELSOX!!!

Three outs to go.
Because I was curious: Beeks, Gunn, Nunez, Pena & Miller are the only GCL players legally eligible to chug real beer & champagne during any celebration. Plus Rusney, if he's actually joining them.

The DSL game has been suspended due to rain with the Sox trailing 8-1 after 8 full innings. It will resume tomorrow prior to Game 3 with the Rangers coming up to start the t-9th.

Well it's nice to see Castillo walk and he's made contact. His strikeout was of the looking variety.

Well earned and easily the most talented bunch I've seen as our GCL team in the last 5 years. It will be really interesting to see how many of these guys get to Boston. Lots of talent and lots of reasons to dream.

Definitely a very talented group. Kemp, Devers, and Chavis, and Guerra all have been fun to follow. Hopefully Ockimey can work on unlocking his offensive potential for next year. Those two (Kopech and Cosart) have a lot of potential too.

Add Acosta, Whitson, Beeks, Moore and Basabe and that's a Cuba refugee boatload of potential talent. My guess is Guerra just cemented his everyday SS for 2015. It'll be interesting to see how the Sox use Chavis & Doubon.
Have fun stats guys, amazing splits:
Kevin Thomas ?@clearthebases 12m Sea Dogs catcher Mike Brenly having fun w/ 2outs in the ninth. A right-handed batter, Brenly batted left and blooped a double to left field
PawSox lost 3-1 Dogs lost 3-0 Salem tied 6-6 bottom of the 10th Drive up 4-3 top 7th

Looks like Workman will be back with the Sox rather than saving a year service time:
Brian MacPherson ?@brianmacp 15m PawSox rotation for first round of playoffs: Escobar, Barnes, Owens, TBA.
Salem Red Sox ?@salemredsox 2m Wilmington defeats Salem 7-6 in 10... The entire Southern Division Championship Series will be in Myrtle Beach... Let's win it on the road!
Salem Red Sox ?@salemredsox 1m If Salem defeats Myrtle in the S.D.C.S, the Sox would host games one and two of the Mills Cup Championship Series on Saturday & Sunday.

The best part about the season being over, for me, is that I can start crunching numbers, specifically Clay Davenport's, and get some kind of objective ranking of recent performance. It's always interesting to compare that to the scouting reports.
I did this last year ... and never f'ing posted it! By the time I was done, it seemed moot. But I should be able to fire up the spreadsheet and get it done within a day or three, depending on how much I'm subconsciously dodging my real-world responsibilities how "into it" I get.
Basically, I'm taking his Peak Translations (projections) and adding his defensive rankings heavily regressed, all of it weighted 3-2-1 the last 3 years, and then adjusting for closeness to MLB. There are tweaks, of course (the most interesting being the "Swihart exemption" -- any guesses?), which I'll explain when I post the results.

That photo of Buttrey bears a strong resemblance to a very young Curt Schilling.
