I couldn't find an equivalent English word for "inactivacion". I don't believe it means deactivation, rather lack of activity.
The author states that he does not understand Hazelbaker's inactivity and describes his build and skillset. The last sentence indicates that the team may need more bullpen help now than outfielders. Also checked the Yaquis roster on the website you linked. It lists Hezelbaker as on the "active roster"
As for Jeremy, I hope the Sox protect him in Rule 5. He could have the upside of a Reddick. He has great base-stealing speed and HR power. At a minimum he could replace a Sweeney or a Nava in a year or two.

My Spanish isn't great but it looks as though the writer is speculating that Hazelbaker's "inactivacion" may be the result of the team, the Yaquis, needing a bullpen arm rather than an outfielder (or because they just don't like him). This would not make sense if he were active but sitting on the pine, but would only make sense if they had deactivated him to add a reliever to the roster.

Yeah that's what I read, and after looking into it, he's back in the states, per his Twitter. Told someone he got sent home because they didn't need him anymore.

Good to hear. I'm a supporter and I don't think I have a lot of company. It is getting to be put up or shut up time though.

We say "this is a big year" for prospects a lot, but this one kind of is for Ranaudo.

Nice Yea, Ranaudo seems to have dropped out of radar hereabouts. Now that he seems healthy, here's hoping he shows his prowess and rockets up the SP charts.

Just a heads up, the Surprise Saguaros are currently on the MLB Network. Almanzar is the only Sox player in the starting lineup.

It looks like OR probably means Caught stealing since caught stealing as a runner is "out robando base," though that is simply a guess.
I would also guess INT=intentional walk.
Intentional walks and Caught stealing can be abbreviated as "CR" and and "BI" respectively
hope this helps

sweet, thanks. I think the "BI" stat I thought was RBI is actually IBB too.

The Puerto Rican league recently had its all-star game. Lots of Sox playing in that one: Jeremy Kehrt, Jose De La Torre, Ivan De Jesus, and Henry Ramos, along with free agent Jason Urquidez. All are having great winter seasons, save Ramos, whose selection I admittedly don't get given his less-than-stellar .217/.276/.275 line. Must be playing some outstanding defense? Anyway, box for those curious: www.mlb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?gid=2012_12_09_metwin_islwin_1&t=g_box&sid=l133The Venezuelan and Dominican All-Stars played this week as well, but no Sox in that one. Only ones who might have had a shot were Mauro Gomez (.257/.379/.461 in DR) and free agent Yeiper Castillo (2.96 ERA out of the bullpen). As always, updated stats are available in one space here on the site: soxprospects.com/fall-winter.htm. (And by the way, we try to keep up on the players who get acquired, but if we're missing someone on that page, let us know!)

De Jesus is an under-the-radar guy who could be a useful utility player for Boston particularly if Iglesias is sent back to AAA. I don't know where he sits on the scouts' fielding continuum, but his minor league batting stats suggest a pesky hitter. He seems to have something of a reasonable OBP....not a complete free swinger ala Aviles and I understand that he could play multiple positions (certainly 2B and SS).
Maybe his best bet is as a good addition in a trade....but if Iglesias is dealt...perhaps he could be a suitable back-up for Ciriaco or whoever we might ultimately acquire. What he is not is 5 day old, unrefrigerated chopped liver.

De Jesus is passable at short at best. He's more of a 2B/3B who can play a bit of short. He's been playing 2B primarily in PR.

If Ciriaco is the starting SS of the 2013 Red Sox, I'm turning in my fan card.

What a miserable year for me. My team in D.R, Los Gloriosos Tigres del Licey, finished last in the league and didn't qualify for the round robin while our most fierce rival, Las Aguilas, finished 1st and look like will win the whole thing. Forget about the Red Sox this is depressing.

[/a][/quote]I wonder what the plan is for Mauro. Although his BA (.242) was not impressive, his other stats were outstanding, OBP, Slugging. He's stuck behind Napoli (maybe), and not being a left handed bat, doesn't offer an alternative at 1B. But the guy can hit. Two MVPs in one calendar year! If the Napoli situation doesn't work out, I'd give him and Sands a chance to compete for the starting job.
