CJ Nitkowski @cjnitkowski · Told Cespedes to Detroit, Porcello to Boston is done. Wow that would make my day if true. Porcello is the kind of guy who really does have his best years ahead.

Have noidea how to interpret this.

It was rumored we might have to give a pitcher as well...if it's straight up, I love this deal.

Imagine this is not a 1 for 1 trade. Would think we needed to add one more piece. We shall see soon.

In case anyone thinks I'm just generally critical of Cherington trades ....
That rocks. I thought we'd need to add a prospect to make up for Cespedes' no-QO clause.
If they think that Cueto is overrated, they can try to get, say Fister for Marrero, Ranaudo, etc. If they think Cueto is the 'nads, then they might be able to get him for Porcello and Marrero.

Exorcising the ghost of Julio Lugo Seriously, old names keep cropping up. I'm still half expecting Pablo Sandoval to show up in the spring and actually be Pedro Alvarez.

I'm of the belief that Cespedes for Porcello is a relatively fair deal. They have comparable WAR, Porcello's is better and he can be QO, but there is a lot more pitching on the market this year and next. Not much out there comparable to Cespedes.

If true, I like it a lot. I think his best years are ahead of him and he can be a solid number two for this team if they acquire him and decide to re-up him....

I suspect there will be other pieces headed to Detroit, but if those are minor, this is a great trade.

Wonder if Porcello saying he wouldn't mind a trade to Boston (do I remember that right?) could make it easier to extend him? Or made him more attractive to trade for?

Very nice. As good a return as could be expected for Cespedes given his contract status.

Jon Morosi ?@jonmorosi 25 sec. #Tigers will obtain minor-league pitcher from #RedSox in Porcello-Cespedes deal, source says. @cjnitkowski first reported trade.
Would'nt be suprised if it is Ranaudo

Basically we are building a mundane rotation full of 3/4 starters... Fun... I do like this move but the rotation is shaping up to be pretty lousy.

Porcello is projected to make 12.2 mil in arbitration per MLBTradeRumors. So they save a few mil w Cespedes and get a young cost controlled arm. Could also signal a precursor to resigning Scherzer?
Perhaps the other arm is a power arm for their bullpen. I would hope not Barnes.

It won't be it most likely will be a no name pitcher or maybe is Ranaudo either way great trade for the sox
1- 2- Rich Porcello 3- Joe Kelly 4- Wade Miley 5- Clay Buchholz
Nice rotation, wonder who they fill the 1. spot with most likely Sheilds or Hamels.
