Yes better fastball command never happens, we should just put him in the pen now. That and at least an average to plus 3rd pitch. Not impossible, but not likely on our team. That pretty much makes it official. SoxProspects can just move him into the upper 20's now.

I spoke with the Angels regional scout for a few minutes last summer during a Lowell Spinners vs Ct Tigers game in Norwich Ct. The same Scout who signed MTrout. I asked him how long does it take to scout a player to see if he has a chance at the MLB level? He said most times it's a matter of watching the pitcher for an inning or a batter for a few AB's. I asked about NLonghi in particular and he said "looks real good" but needs to find a position.
What I noticed in watching 4 Lowell games last year while sitting a few rows behind the plate was the ability of Longhi to fight off pitches with lightning quick hands where as STravis and JBetts would swing and miss. I think Longhi should be in the Sox Prospects Top 15 for 2015.

Thanks for the update, and good observations. He was doing well till he got hurt. You may be right about listing him, but let's see how he starts off this year. Lowell is just the start of his trip.

Wow, 14 highly rated prospects, with a number of our recently signed IFA's not even among them? This is awesome! Great future! In other news: Where is this team's pitching? Stop prospect hugging, Ben. Stop it now. Id rather be the Cardinals than the 2013 Red Sox. That's an exaggeration, but if we sell our better specs for a rental were mortgaging the future and I don't think the benefit is high enough to do so. Depends on the specs you're willing to deal. Margot is the best trade chip for us right now. Big ceiling, organizationally deep position. I think Swihart in a Strasburg deal wouldn't be the end of the world. But I don't think I would want to give up multiple of our top 7-ish prospects for one player at this point. I'd rather trade midseason. So you would rather have Pisciotty, Reyes, Gonzales, Kamisky, Flaherty and Tilson over: Swihart, Devers, Owens, Rodriguez, Margot, Chavis, Barnes, Escobar, and company. I know that the younger arms on their roster now come into inclusion, but with Mookie Betts and Xander Bogaerts, I beg to differ. Unfortunately, this argument does not include Oscar Tavares. I know this is a subjective argument, but I would say that the Red Sox assortment of arms and tools players have the higher upside. I might be wrong.

I'm a Longhi guy ... I think if he hadn't gotten hurt he would've popped a little bit more and made lists like this, and I'll vote for him (again) for something or other in the projection game before the season this year. Sure, he may just be a leftfield prospect, but that's fine with me ... I think his bat's going to be legit, and the Sox need a good hitting left field prospect with some power.

Im pulling for all these kids. Longhi in-particular. Real nice guy. Autographed a ball for my son and after one of his AB's which he cracked his bat, he popped his head from the dugout and gave the bat to my son as well..
Very quick hands.. I wish I had just a lick of some of these guys talent..
