...and one more, three for the night. Add: As others on the board pointed out at the time of the Punto trade, it was absolutely worth it to the Dodgers to bring Gonzalez on board. He found his power stroke it seems. His shoulder is healed If this were Moncada in Greenville the world would be alive with the sound of Steroids???

Old friend Stolmy Pimentel waived by Pirates, claimed by Rangers.

Jenrry Mejia, already on the disabled list with a sore right elbow, has been suspended by MLB for 80 games after testing positive for a banned performance-enhancing drug, it was announced Saturday.
The Mets closer tested positive for Stanozolol and will serve an 80-game suspension as mandated by MLB’s policy toward eliminating performance-enhancing substances from the sport.
Could the Mets be a potential trade partner for Mujica?

The Tigers are off to a pretty hot start so far. Yeah they seem to be one of the only teams hitting well. There's been some truly terrible offense early on, see here.

I know this is not MLB, but old friend Allen Webster got tattooed in his first AAA start in the PCL: 3 IP, 7 H, 6 ER, 2 BB, 2 K
Rubby did not fare much better in the MLB....5.1 IP, 8 H, 6 ER, 2 HR allowed, 2 BB, 5 K
I absolutely hope these guys turn it around for their own sake. But its amazing we were able to package these two for Miley. Perfect timing from Ben, I think.

Rubby did not fare much better....5.1 IP, 8 H, 6 ER, 2 HR allowed, 3 BB, 5 K I don't know where you get 3 BB. I watched the condensed game and checked the play log, and I claim there was 1 intentional and 1 unintentional walk. Neither of the home runs were crushed, they were both just barely out of play, and of the hits in play, at least half could have been outs with a competent defense. I still believe in Rubby.

I'm going to guess that's what we in the biz call a "typo".

What Chris said above, a typo, though I should have clarified the IBB. Definitely important to note that I was drawing this from box score alone and not the eye test, which was a little short-sighted. I still want to believe in Rubby, too. I guess only time will tell.

Doesnt this also show that Miley is probably better than his numbers in 'Zona indicated. Granted it was one start (and the second trip through the rotation is off to a horrible start), but Mikey looked a lot better than I thought, threw harder than I thought. Kind of liking this deal better than I did originally.

The inability of Lester to throw to any base is getting is approaching the Matt Young level. It is no wonder why he doesn't throw over to keep runners close. NL teams are going to run wild on him.

Thank goodness the BABIP is so high because if those were hit at fielders there would be some serious injuries. So glad we didn't spend $130 on this guy.

The Royals ran on Lester during last year's playoffs. I am not sure why teams have not done it before as it is very clear that Lester has had the yips throwing to any base for quite a while. Now that it is out in the open there doesn't appear to be any reason to hold back to exploit this obvious weakness.

David Schoenfield ?@dschoenfield 1h1 hour ago Hard to complain about Buck Showalter, but Tommy Hunter vs. a LHB in a big situation rarely a good idea.
Buck Showalter is basically the Doc Rivers of MLB. He's a thoroughly mediocre manager who has consistently had top talent and sometimes has won with it, and who the media adores and overrates because he's a good interview and was a media guy himself in between gigs. At least Doc won a title. Whenever I hear the Orioles discussed, it's always thrown in that they're dangerous because of Showalter. He's won, I think, one playoff series. Two teams have won championships in the season immediately after firing him. But even people whose opinion I respect, like Schoenfield, seem to think he's anything better than standard fare.

I find nothing worse to see in sports than a guy get the yips in baseball ... it's so painful. And I thought Jon Lester handled himself so well in Boston, it's even worse seeing it happen to him.

Glad other teams somehow didn't figure out how to truly exploit that when he was here. People freaked out about losing Lester but that could prove to be the right move sooner than even many skeptics envisioned... And trading him could be looking even smarter.

How did this only just become such a big thing? 2012 is the first year he stopped throwing to first. I guess it just took the limelight of playing the steal happy Royals in the playoffs to highlight it. There's a good article on Grantland about it by Lindberg. grantland.com/the-triangle/mlb-jon-lester-chicago-cubs-pickoff-aversion-simulation/

It's almost as bizarre as when Salty couldn't throw to the pitcher.
