Series Thread Disclaimer: The SoxProspects Moderators will be somewhat liberal in policing the Red Sox "Series" Threads. Some of the Ground Rules are applied loosely in here, as we understand that there is a tendency to want to react (or overreact) to every play of a Sox game with one line reactionary posts. Those posts are okay in the Red Sox Series threads to a point - we certainly appreciate the passion. Just try not to overdo it, and try to maintain some semblance of reason. In addition, please don't let those type of posts spill over to other more substantive threads, where they may be deleted. -The Management

Woohoo, Gameday Thread! Let's kick if off:
Damn you, John Farrell!! If you didn't [pinch hit/let him hit] and/or [gone to the bullpen too early/stuck with the starter too long], we would've won! And don't even get me started on your line-up ...

Coyle scratched after getting a ball to the lip and needing stitches.

Maybe we can trade Xander and Remy for Keith Hernandez. He seems to know a lot more about the Red Sox and their prospects. I'm guessing the Mets would want Betts and Xander that'd be a touch decision.
ADD and Xander got eaten up by 1 groundball in the 4th.
ADD2 LOL, and Vazquez got eaten up by Johnson's curve in the dirt. Gameday just figured out that's Weeks not Coyle.

Xander's jack today - off balance, out in front of pitch, off his front foot, and still cleared the LF fence by 25 feet.

Now, granted, spring training doesn't feature the sliders away and other stuff that gave Xander trouble last year, but still ... I think he's going to have a terrific year.

Xander's jack today - off balance, out in front of pitch, off his front foot, and still cleared the LF fence by 25 feet. It was impressive, all arms. Layne was hitting 91 with his fastball, I don't remember him that high last year. I might be wrong though, didn't see a lot of him. ADD: Xander's single was pretty good too, started off 0-2 then took a low outside pitch as a flair down the RF line.

Peter Gammons ?@pgammo 2m2 minutes ago It's a good day in Cubs camp when Daniel Bard throws 94-96 and "feels the best I've felt in years"
nice tweet to see.
Mets pitchers have been wild all day.

mlb.tv is so horrible so far this year. I'm a full half inning behind because of all the buffering delays that happen about every 15 seconds. I have 15 megabit cable, which should be more than enough. I have a strong feeling that upgrading it wouldn't even help.

Off topic but does anyone know why WEEI cuts out to ESPN radio sometimes? I tried to listen to the game but it didn't work : /

I don't see any delay in the Mets broadcast, it's way ahead of Gameday.

It's $39.95 and it can be used in conjunction with the MLB At Bat app to stream the feed onto your TV. You do need a router with wireless capability. If you have that you should be good to go. I don't have anywhere near that bandwidth but the feed through Chromecast is very smooth. Note that I haven't signed up for MLB.tv, though I will be shortly. I do expect to use that combination to watch games. I'll let you know how it goes.

I watched my first game through it today. I had to stream it through my Samsung tablet to the Chromecast. I had a few buffering delays, but I only have 3MB through AT&T. I plan to upgrade to 6MB, which I think is the max they offer me. I don't know why I can't stream directly from my computer instead of my tablet. Technological mysteries.

Red Sox out walked the Mets 10-0.
I was really impressed with Keith Hernandez knowledge all the way around. Besides baseball in general, he must spend a lot of time with the media guides. He had several statements that I had never heard, for example, he pointed out that if Couch made the majors, he would only be the second major league player in history from Adelphia then went on to also talk about the other player.
He was also quite knowledgeable about things not in the media guide, little details like Johnson's repertoire and strengths (he likes his curve), HanRam's muscle gain, Bogaerts new first step, the entire AL East team by team breakdown of strengths and weaknesses. Darling is a much better speaker but Keith was impressive.
I wish I caught his analysis of Porcello but the time change gets me once every year now.
ADD: I'm only assuming it was Keith because I Googled it. I know it's a former Mets player but I never heard a name mentioned. Ron Darling was familiar.

Yanked mine out to look at the thing and it is an HDMI/DVI connector. To be clear, the actual buffering happens through that device, with your phone searching out and then channelling the feed. And you can do it through a (desk/lap)top as well. Install the Chromium browser (from Google, of course) and then search out and install the Google Cast add-on extension. At that point, you can work your feeds that way. There are no add-ons for other browsers that I know of (not Firefox, not Internet Explorer, not Opera, not Safari). That's because the coin of the realm for Google is selling headcounts - who goes where to get what. They want to include your baseball habit in those headcounts, so they want you to play in their backyard.
