Series Thread Disclaimer: The SoxProspects Moderators will be somewhat liberal in policing the Red Sox "Series" Threads. Some of the Ground Rules are applied loosely in here, as we understand that there is a tendency to want to react (or overreact) to every play of a Sox game with one line reactionary posts. Those posts are okay in the Red Sox Series threads to a point - we certainly appreciate the passion. Just try not to overdo it, and try to maintain some semblance of reason. In addition, please don't let those type of posts spill over to other more substantive threads, where they may be deleted. -The Management

Pete Abraham ?@peteabe #RedSox at #Phillies: Holt SS, Weeks 3B, Nava 1B, Craig LF, Cecchini DH, Brentz RF, Swihart C, Bradley Jr. CF, Bianchi 2B, Masterson RHP.
Wade Miley, Justin Masterson, Heath Hembree, Tommy Layne, Brandon Workman, Dana Eveland, Noe Ramirez, and Dalier Hinojosa
We'll see in five days if they flip-flop Masterson and Miley to get a lefty in the first Yankee Stadium game. If the speculation is correct, Masterson will get the next start before Miley.

I wonder if Cecchini, Brentz, and JBJ, and Workman are being showcased. (I'm ignoring Swihart completely)

According to the Blue Jays' website, they (and presumably MLB) will have a radio broadcast of the Thursday game.

LOL, but the twitter twits aren't ignoring Swihart at Philly.
Nick Cafardo ?@nickcafardo You'll note that Blake Swihart is catching for the Red Sox today in Clearwater vs. Phillies.
Scott Lauber ?@scottlauber So, Blake Swihart will be behind the plate for #RedSox today vs. #Phillies in Clearwater. What are the odds Ruben Amaro Jr. lets him leave?
Scott Lauber ?@scottlauber Cole Hamels long-tossing with Phillies pitchers, which means only that #RedSox' bus has not yet arrived to whisk him away. We kid, we kid. . . . Me thinks Lauber is dropping down to shock jock level...
Scott Lauber ?@scottlauber Swihart on facing #Phillies: "I think people are reading too much into it. Just my turn to catch" #RedSox
Glad to see Blake gave the conversation an intelligent half. . . . LOL
Scott Lauber ?@scottlauber Maybe we are reading too much into it, as Swihart says. But he did play yesterday and 2 big league starters set to pitch today. Odd. #RedSox
I'm not sure who the we are but maybe just maybe it might have something to do with the 125 mile bus trip or the fact that Swihart might need to know these starters later in the year. Also just maybe Swihart doesn't need showcasing. . . . Poor Blake... Rob Bradford ?@bradfo Farrell on Swihart presence against Phillies: "This is not a showcase" Said he has talked to catcher about trade rumors
Scott Lauber ?@scottlauber Farrell on Swihart vs. #Phillies: "This is not a showcase." Went to say team views Swihart as "#RedSox for a long time" . . . Good one John... Scott Lauber ?@scottlauber Farrell joked, "I did notice a life-sized poster of Cole Hamels in the elevator when we came in." #RedSox #Phillies

I do think Cecchini and Workman (and who knows, maybe Craig) presence is more significant than Swiaarts.

I am anxiously waiting for a report on Travis Shaw. Is he going to be more than an up and down (grade 3). So if any one has seen him, please pass along any observations.

Also just maybe Swihart doesn't need showcasing. The speculation here is really dumb. Maybe we've been misinformed but all indications are that the Phillies would pack Hamel's bags today if the Red Sox agreed to give up Swihart. So what exactly would be the point of showcasing him?

How much stupid speculation can people come up with? Maybe Swihart is thinking about buying the Phillies so they're showcasing the team to him by playing the game.

Yeah, "showcasing Swihart" to the Phillies makes about as much sense as showcasing the Roadrunner to Wile E Coyote ... it ain't the desire that's missing here.

Imagine if Mookie was in that game... The jizz fest by sports "writers" would be unreal.

High fastballs aren't good for Masterson.

Masterson has the uncanny ability to start a pitch anywhere and have it end up in the middle of the strikezone.

Swiharts spring BA is approaching .600, gees. Yes but why is he calling for so many fastballs down the middle of the plate ? . . . Maureen Mullen ?@maureenamullen 5m5 minutes ago Scout on Masterson: "He was horrible. 86-89, belt high, middle of the plate."

Yes but why is he calling for so many fastballs down the middle of the plate ? Because Masterson would have eventually hit someone if Swihart called for more fastballs inside.

Am I the only one having MLB problems right now ? Comcast stream is working much better for me than most MLB.tv streams lately.

Welp... let's hope we really do have a 3-3-3-3-3 rotation. Would be pretty awful if it turned out to be a 5-5-5-5-5 instead.
