Rusney, Swihart, Shaw and Marrerro not in the line-up today. Let's see how the B team does.

Eduardo Rodriguez with a 9 ERA and 2.0WHIP... safe to say that this has been a disappointing season so far for him.

Eduardo Rodriguez had a rough 1st with a couple of doubles, but he certainly pitched well after. McAvoy was fine himself.

Bianchi has pitched three innings, given up one run, much better than Hinojosa.

Walk-off walk for Lehigh Valley. Most of Berry's pitches were higher than the umpire's head.

All the more impressive that Bianchi was able to throw 14 of his 19 pitches for strikes.

You do realize that Craig Breslow hasn't allowed a run in 3 IP over 2 appearances this year? Only has given up one hit, in fact? Don't really get the Breslow-hate that pops up occasionally ... dude had one bad year after throwing the most innings of his career the year before.

Not to mention that he was a key figure in our bullpen helping us win the World Series. That year before.

I don't understand why Berry went in. They had three RPs who had pitched the day before. Certainly one would think that one of them could have gone one inning. RPs are supposed to be able to do things like that.
Giving the game away like that doesn't seem right.

RPs are supposed to be able to do things like that. Giving the game away like that doesn't seem right. Because wins and losses in Triple-A mean nothing. The three pitchers who threw the day before all threw more than 30 pitches. It's not like they had each thrown an easy, 10-pitch inning or something. Sometimes, when you play a 16-inning game the day after a 13-inning game, you wind up using position players for four innings. If this is the kind of thing that disappoints you that much, I'm not sure what to tell you. This is actually kind of the issue with not having any JAGs on a roster - nobody to throw out there until his arm falls off.

Winning is a habit and it is something that should be instilled in the minors. Pawtucket was ahead and they conceded the game. I think it was wrong and I don't buy it that someone could not have pitched an inning. I can't believe these pitchers are that fragile.
Oh, and if these games don't count, why do they have playoffs?

They're not going to risk a pitcher's health to win a Triple-A game in the 16th. You realize that the guy who threw the prior 3 innings was a backup infielder, right?

Yeah, I actually was coming to post the opposite-- that they should have just conceded the game a few innings earlier instead of going through that whole rigamarole of seven extra innings. The extra stress on your relievers' arms more than outweighs whatever positive "winning culture" effect you might gain from overworking your guys to win a minor league game in April.
