LOL Hanley playing the monster. If memory serves me Manny was pretty legit at playing the bounce off the monster with a quick snap throw to second. He certainly figured I out. Im sure Hanley will too eventually. But the play on a whole just reminded me of Manny in all his goofy glory. The somersault, the fact that he had a big grin on his face about it, it was awesomely bad.

I'm starting to understand why they call him "Kungfu" Panda.

I meant this for his at-bat but I'll take that.

If Kelly added a great punch-out pitch to his arsenal, I bet he would become an ace. He gets almost every batter to two strikes. Getting that third strike either takes an extra four pitches or he doesn't at all. Now what could that punch-out pitch be??.....

Steve Pearce's batting stance reminds me of my "must go opposite field" wiffle ball stance.
Honestly Joe Kelly can be the ace of this staff if his control is at least average. He can get away with mistake pitches purely because of his stuff.

Kelly is not going to get through 6. How can you like and dislike a post at once? You're right, he won't, so I agree. But I hate it when pitchers don't go deep into starts. I'd take 3 ER over 7 IP instead of 0 ER over 5 IP. A bullpen shouldn't need to get more than 6 outs.

Gutsy and correct call by HP umpire as it was obvious to everyone in the park that Jimenez hit Panda intentionally. Also, Shoop should learn how to turn a double play as he made no attempt to clear Panda's slide earlier in the game.

I absolutely believe the umps should throw out pitchers trying to intentionally HBP immediately. If you think back to 2013, the fact that Dempster even got a second chance to try and hit A-Rod was ridiculous to me, nevermind that he was allowed to stay in the game after he actually hit.
But it seems pretty far-fetched to me to assume that Jimenez was trying to hit Sandoval here.

Panda went in hard to break up double play earlier in the game 2. There were two outs and no one on base

Imagine if Ben hadn't traded for Hanigan? So, so valuable considering the Vazquez situation.
Also, you have to love Kelly still tossing 98 out there at 117 pitches. If he can really come into his own with his new slider, that Lackey trade becomes a slam dunk.

Even with a fancy new slider, Kelly's going to need to tighten that fastball command to reach his ceiling. In his fourth season and about to turn 27, I just don't think that happens.

Must be nice to have a ROOGY like O'Day in your pen when facing the Red Sox. I'm glad Farrell managed to find the totally obvious pinch hitting move here.

Clemens and Pedro would have been tossed 5-6 times per year had their games been umped like tonight's has been.

Pablo, panda, fat ichiro... Whatever you want to call him. Still doesn't have an extra base hit in a Sox uniform.

Not usually a fan of Papi bunting, but that was the time for it. 3-24 against Matusz with 13K's, Hanley with 1st and 2nd, no one out, facing a lefty, I feel good about something positive happening. Hope Pablo's righty swing gets going soon, it's been ugly.
