Pete Abraham @peteabe · 55m 55 minutes ago Rusney Castillo, who is on the minor league DL but with the #Redsox, played some catch in the OF just now. Out with a shoulder injury.
Can we surmise anything from his being with the major league team despite being on the minor league DL (i.e., that a call-up to Boston once healthy is a strong possibility), or is this normal?

Likely just to keep him closer to the medical staff. Pretty normal.

Great job by Clay working around the Orioles' BABIP luck and keeping this a reasonable ballgame.

Clay has actually looked really good at times in his start today. Some of his pitches were downright nasty.

Buchholz with a much better response this time to bad BABIP luck.

First time I've ever heard Verducci do play by play and i abosolutely hate him. Turned the sound down after the third inning.

Great job by Clay working around the Orioles' BABIP luck and keeping this a reasonable ballgame. Buch had some pretty rough luck in his last start as well. I think we'll be content with him this year. He's learning how to handle the spotlight that being the de facto 'The Man' of the staff entails. But I thought his missed defensive assignments last week weren't products of disinterest, but rather the fact that he let his emotions get the best of him. I've always thought he kind of just went through the motions at times in the past, but I haven't gotten that sense through his first few starts (lots of conjecture there, I know).

It's early, but this team is turning leaving men on third into an art form.

Clay did much better today. Now get him some runs.

Man, Pedroia is trying to do too much with men on.
ADD: Wonder why they pinch ran mookie and then didn't steal him there.

Xander has a high average but his swing looks awful to me. He is jumping at the ball, using mostly upper body. He won't hit for much power with this swing.

This team has just been awful with RISP so far. Some of it has been bad luck but a lot of swings out of the zone and going for the fences, too.

Anyway, wow, Clay Buchholz must have been the unluckiest guy in all of baseball yesterday, it was like facing an entire team of Brock Holts. Great job pitching his way out of it.

That was the type of gritty performance that could turn him around...perhaps like a batter in a slump who gets a couple of bloops and off he goes.

Tough to watch Pedroia and Hanley at the plate and in the field yesterday. It happens.

We should have a pool when Holt's BABIP drops under .500. I'm taking May 6th.

I'm glad Farrell is finally putting Napoli, despite the struggles, ahead of Panda. No sense having our two lefty (essentially) bats so close together and I'm hoping Napoli is the superior hitter still.
