I would argue Ben is the one who was dealt crap and he turned and turned things around in a hurry. Yeah, there have been some bumps in the road but so far he has been building up our farm system and not making the same mistakes theo did. His free agent signings and trades have mostly been good. Some mistakes, sure.
The team is built with the flexibility to go out and make a trade or some free agent moves in the off season. Buchholz and Masterson can be let go at the end of this season if necessary. Miley can be sent down. So far Sandoval and Hanley have been looking pretty good (other than hanley's fielding).
Farrell, on the other hand keeps throwing Craig out there, leaves starters in there to get hammered and then brings in Breslow in high leverage situations. For some reason he in- explicably sits nava and ortiz against righties.

Lol at least Craig lasted 8 pitches.
Also Hanley hits rockets more than half of his ABs. Insane. He's getting crazy unlucky with his LDs this year. Should change. He looks like a way more powerful hitter than in previous years though.

What are you saying here, that Farrell's stressing out about wins and going against what he knows? Come on, man, wouldn't it be easier and make more sense to just say that the poor man was dealt **** and has been doing his best to make it float? I'm not sure you read what I said.... no that is not what I am saying. See www.baseball-excellence.com/index.cfm?Method=Instructions_Instructionsdetail&id=7and then tell me why Farrell's reputation as a pitching coach says anything about his ability to make in-game decisions. "This is our view of the role of a pitching coach"... says some totally unqualified JAG interest has already waned but still reading.. EDIT: Sorry, but as much as I tried I could not get past that header. Look, whoever wrote that, write us when you're in a position to actually prove your opinions have merit, because right now they don't. Your opinions are no more meritorious than mine of Ben needing to be gone, and fast (assuming he won't take a demotion to what he does well)

Gawd, Longoria, Machado, Donaldson, Headley... you just can't hit balls past 3B in this division.

Mookie has a very long leash with me. Xander is shortening it day by day. What happened to this kid? Where's that pop amd hit tool that made him a top 5 prospect? I know he's insanely young, but what gives? Bogaert's starts every year the same. Little power, then more when it warms up. He's getting his fair share of hits, so if there's an uptick in power, his production will easily be above average for a SS. His K/BB numbers are mimicking those from his good years rather than last year as well. I think he's only going to get better from this point on. Last year, he couldn't touch anything low or low and away. He's still missing and chasing too much low and away. but his contact% low in the zone in general has gone up significantly. He's figuring it out day by day, and considering his huge ceiling that's fine by me. Well, I'm backing off that ledge a bit.

Bogaerts looks like our only offensive hope next inning and if we get back to the heart of the Blue Jays order with our bullpen, were likely cooked.

Jays played some unreal defense that inning, can't be that mad. That was part of the grotesqueness. Two happy birthday plays in the same half inning.

"This is our view of the role of a pitching coach"... says some totally unqualified JAG interest has already waned but still reading.. Then: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coach_%28baseball%29#Pitching_and_bullpen_coachesI shouldn't have provided a random link, but maybe the burden on you to explain to me what (in your view) a pitching coach does, and then explain to me what that has to do with a manager's in-game decisions? Because as far as I know, the pitching coach does not make in-game decisions and his role has more to do with mechanics.

That AB against Pillar was the Koji-est Koji I've seen this year. High FB a guy can't do much with, then buried him with a split.

I hope we roll Napoli out for Hanigan here. Bogaert's-Napoli-Mookie is a way better threat and I'd prefer to win it before facing Bautista and E5.

Craig just cannot seem to pull the ball with power any more. That trendline continues. We should trade Victorino and Craig with whatever salary we can unload at this point. They will avoid that like the plague for Craig in particular but I don't see that bat geting better. And I can't see any GM pulling the trigger even on a complete salary dump for either. My hope is some team which has not much going for them who is willing to take a chance on Craig to give him some PT if we pick up most of his salary.
