Muzziotti also cracks his list but without a projected signing team.

This is fantastic; was just coming to post the same link. Looks like he projects the Dodgers to spend 38 million or so.

Very impressive if we can still grab a couple quality prospects despite the cap on spending.
For all the things that seem to be going wrong with the Sox these days, hitting on IFA's definitely isn't one of them any more. Exhibit A would be our Top 10 prospect list (plus Bogaerts).

Yeah SoxCentral, but all I hear from Shawnessey and Neumieier is how bad our prospects are but they cherry pick . How can someone say anything about 22 year olds? Ever since they went With Romero Jr international is all set.
Me personally I am pretty happy with what is going on. The Cubs,Twins,Astros had the benefit of bein terrible for years at a time so you get top three picks every year

If we can get two prospects rated that highly with our spending limits, I'd make Romero our GM.

Ben Badler posted his outlook for all 30 teams. Besides Guaimaro and Muzziotti, he links us to two VZ shortstops: Eduardo Torrealba (who Kiley McDaniel also linked to the Sox) and Antonio Pineiro. Torrealba is seen as the better hitter of the two but will probably move to second base, while Pineiro is more defense-first. www.baseballamerica.com/international/international-forecasts-30-teams-2/

Muzziotti also cracks his list but without a projected signing team. Kiley updated the list and it now lists Muzziotti as projecting to sign with the Sox.

Happy July 2nd! Eh... OK I guess I can see why the hype isn't quite as big this year...

Coming up with the #14 prospect with only $300k to spend is pretty impressive. I didn't expect anything like that this year.

Success of the current Latin players in the system? Or, an established relationship with the scout? Combo of the two??

Relationships matter plus the Red Sox are a big spending organization that has shown it can develop talent.

I love this ownership. They have international locked down. They have come a long way. What kills me this is never ever mentioned regarding prospects with mainstream media.

I love this ownership. They have international locked down. They have come a long way. What kills me this is never ever mentioned regarding prospects with mainstream media. Nor is it mentioned as a really big failure for most of the Theo regime ... just terrible VZ/DR development really held this franchise back from building the "player development machine" they wanted. They drafted really well in general but put way too much pressure on the draft. But Romero is just killing it year after year now. Imagine the system without Devers, Espinoza, Guerra, Margot, etc, etc ...

This is classic moneyball, right? Find the market inefficiency and exploit the hell out of it. Sox have clearly figured something out in Venezuela and they're reaping the benefits.

I had no idea before hand, but some quick googling yields that this is probably Yorvit's kid, who was kidnapped a half dozen years ago. That's... weird. From October 2009 m.mlb.com/news/article/7433416/Torrealba's son throws out first pitch EmailPrint By Thomas Harding / MLB.com | October 11th, 2009 + 0 COMMENTS DENVER -- A special year for catcher Yorvit Torrealba continued Sunday night, when his son, Yorvit Eduardo Torrealba, threw out the first pitch before the Rockies' first home playoff game of 2009 -- Game 3 of the National League Division Series against the Phillies. complete postseason coverage Yorvit Eduardo, 12, and two other family members were kidnapped in Venezuela in early June, setting off a few days of tense negotiations. The abductors set the three of them free without even picking up the $50,000 that had been agreed upon. Since then, Torrealba moved his wife and family to the U.S. Yorvit Eduardo spent much of the summer with his father, often participating in pregame workouts with the Rockies. But when school started, Yorvit Eduardo went to Miami -- the family's new home. But they were together, once again, at Coors Field before Game 3.

Yeah I remember before Eddie Romero they had only part-time scouts in Venezuela now they have full time scouts and it shows. Now they are taking advantage of being one of the few teams scouting there full time.
