Cehecking in on an old friend who there was much discussion about last year, Carson Blair is with Oakland's Double-A team, splitting the catching duties. He's hitting .279/.416/.525 in 77 PA.
Still something of a SSS (consider that he'd have the 10th-most PA on the Sea Dogs), but will be interesting to follow.

Baltimore will do whatever it takes to keep Garcia. I guess if someone throws high 90s you have to have him.

That's really close to his line when he played with Portland: .288/.394/.525. He has 26 Ks and a .455 BABIP so far this year, though.
-----
The Mudcats series with Myrtle Beach has been postponed and they've returned to Zebulon to be evaluated. Hopefully they can get back on the field on Friday (they're scheduled to begin a home series then. Very scary stuff.

Always like to check on how former Sox Prospects are doing around the minor leagues. The list below includes 2015 stats of prospects Boston has traded since the 2011-2012 offseason. What could of been with Jacobs. I like those two sport stars and I liked how the Sox were thinking. You hit on a kid Like this you have your cleanup hitter for the next ten years.
I wonder who wil pan out if any out of this group. It's too bad Garcia got claimed by the Orioles. He can't progress naturally he has to go thru that crap.

Gracias. There is a lot of interesting information there regarding how the Sox set up their CA scouting staff - more probably on PACER. Also, I hadn't appreciate that Mark Wagner was a plaintiff.

One of my favorite HS pitchers last year was Grant Holmes and he is off to a terrific start: Hot Sheet

I'm not a lawyer and I'm not gonna read all of that but doesn't it just basically say the Red Sox don't do enough in California but go ahead and sue them somewhere else?

Yup. Just an update on their status in the case.
They won't get sued unless the plaintiffs prevail in California though, I wouldn't think.

So the 8 teams were dismissed because the case was in California and they do no business in California? Do all 22 other organizations do business in California? Confusing.

So the 8 teams were dismissed because the case was in California and they do no business in California? Do all 22 other organizations do business in California? Confusing. Yes. In this case, I think it was basically if you have a minor league club that plays in California regularly. Thus: Pacific Coast League: Rockies, Brewers, Padres, Astros, Cubs, Mets, Cards, A's, Marlins, Dodgers, Royals, DBacks, Rangers, Giants, Angels, M's. And the California Leagues is all teams that have PCL affiliates. The 11 teams that moved to dismiss were Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, the Chicago White Sox, Cleveland, Detroit, the New York Yankees, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay, and Washington. The court found that Detroit, Pittsburgh, and the Yankees had scouted or communicated with one of the plaintiffs in California, but dismissed the other eight clubs. Toronto (Las Vegas - PCL) and Cincinnati (Stockton - Calif.) recently had affiliates that played in California. Not quite sure why Cincinnati didn't move to dismiss. Maybe they have an office out there for some reason or something.

I was at the Syracuse-Indianapolis game last night, and old friend Dan Butler was 3 for 4... with a triple! According to B-Ref, his last one was apparently 6/15/12.

Got to see the Salt Lake Bees (Angels AAA) vs the Oklahoma City Dodgers (Dodgers AAA) in a PCL LA rivalry battle on Memorial Day last night.
Corey Seager was as advertised, and hit two moonshot HRs off the Bees starter, LHP Adam Wilk. I know he's been struggling so far this season but caught him on a very good night. Seems like he has LHP figured out.
The other player who caught my eye was RHP Trevor Gott for the Bees. 22 year old making his AAA debut in relief. I think he has legitimate MLB stuff - the gun was registering him sitting around 96 and touching 99, with noticable movement on his fastball. In the inning he pitched, nobody could touch his FB, and the most they could do was foul it off. He also flashed a plus SL around 87 and at least average CH with very good separation from the FB at 84 MPH, and great arm action. I think we'll see him for the Angels this year if they need a bullpen piece. The fastball was one of the more impressive I've seen in person, it just really jumped on hitters with tons of movement to boot.

Lavarnway elects free agency rather then letting the Orioles outright him, signs minor league contract with the Barves.

www.ocregister.com/articles/kapler-665814-dodgers-schebler.htmlI love this link for a number of reasons: 1) Gabe Kapler doing Gabe Kapler things. 2) A look into how one team evaluates its minor leaguers' performance. 3) It illuminates how batting average, OPS and -gasp- RBIs are not great ways to judge minor leaguers' performance, especially in small sample sizes. 4) The tangential swipe at the nonsense that is average with RISP. 5) But it also makes me sad that we lack access to most of this stuff.

Knew we had access to the other stuff you mentioned. minorleaguecentral.com/ has them, though it looks like only for some levels (I'm only seeing Pawtucket for the Red Sox). I'm also not sure where the data comes from, I doubt teams are sharing their minor league pitch f/x data.
