Yeah I meant 300k (overage) + 175k (8th round slot) = 475k and I rounded up to 500k Very good point I forgot about that as well.

He's another academic all-american. Played two summers in the Cape. Good hitter.

Besides being linked to Allen we were also linked to DJ Neal. He's still on the board. Might see him tomorrow. I think he's a tough sign away from a football scholarship.

So with the Red Sox Round 7, 9, 10 picks they should save substantial money. Allen will be an overslot guy, but in my opinion he's more in the 300K mix not the 500k area. Sox will have some money to play with tomorrow.

Cecchini was a high school shortstop who was going to be a below-average major league third baseman. He wasn't a poor collegiate third baseman. Big difference.

Allen was a steal. He and Rei are enough to call today a success in my book.

Rumor on the South Carolina board I go to says Allen will get between $720-750k once the Sox know the savings on other guys.

If accurate, I'm sure the Sox aren't happy about that getting out.

Allen looks pretty good, although he doesn't appear to generate much power from his legs unlike Lester.

Allen looks pretty good, although he doesn't appear to generate much power from his legs unlike Lester. That can be taught luckily. It could give him an uptick to his velocity. I am excited and look forward to watch his progression.
