What's really crazy is that the two starters I liked, Ventura and Duffy, have done nothing this year.
Volquez's whole career makes no sense.

Want to see a resurgence tonight of Eduardo. Last time out was not as bad as that stat line, but like to see him back as El Stopo (a mystical pitcher who stops losing streaks)

Lately Mookie Betts has looked a lot like, well, Mookie Betts. Yeah he's 10 for 18 in his last 7 days and is hitting .300 for the month of June so far. He's still hitting a lot of popups though.

Mookie gets under the ball a lot, leading to a a lot of harmless FB or IFFB. He also really has power to the pull side, so a lot of balls that he drills to center end up being line outs whereas if someone like Nap secured them up they would be home runs. That part is out of his control. Glad to see him finally finding the gaps lately.

That part is out of his control. Glad to see him finally finding the gaps lately. That and the fact that he seems to be working on the hole in his swing. That hole is one he introduced when he let it be known he would be swinging harder at balls. The ticket for pitchers, then, has been up and away with the result being a lot of fly balls to right and right center. Hey, these guys do this for a living and they talk amongst themselves. We need to understand that he's still figuring this out. He's starting to go with those pitches again, something he did quite well during his time in the minors, and last year when he came up. I know we'd all like him to be what he'll be at 27 or 28 years old. That's expecting a bit much. The Sox have chosen to let that minor league talent play. Since a lot of the energy the team has generated - admittedly low wattage this year - comes from those players, I'm good with it. Now,... where's that Johnson kid? Add: I rest my case.

Wow, Chris Young should be studied. In 1114.2 IP in the majors, he has given up a .249 BABIP. This year, .199. I don't know I've seen a more extreme fly ball pitcher. 26.4 GB%, 54.9 FB% and 15.2 IFFB% for his career.

I think Swihart could learn a ton about handling a staff and AL East hitters splitting time with Hanigan but I understand if they want him in AAA for some seasoning.

The Leon Fan Club thinks the weight of evidence would indicate "Swihart optioned to AAA".

Something is very odd - or at least unexplained - about Castillo not being in this lineup tonight.

De Aza's small sample numbers against the starter probably justification.

De Aza's small sample numbers against the starter probably justification. Usually, that's BS, but 5/7, BB, 2B, with 3 line drives and a bunt for the singles, in two very well-pitched and one OK game -- that may actually indicate something despite the SSS. Not saying it's likely, but it's within the realm of possibility. Pino has actually been tougher in his career vs. LHP so far, but it's mostly because his HR rate has been much higher versus RHB.

Man, Sandoval really sucks! We all know that when Mookie Betts hits well for a month, its completely real and everything else doesn't matter! But when Sandoval hits better for the same month, its luck and he's worse than Carl Crawford!

Royals color commentator says Chili Davis was one of his top 5 favourite teammates and he learned more about hitting from him than any other teammate.
