I'd guess Pawtucket is a bullpen game. Barnes, Belisario, Hembree, and Scott all have three days' rest, while Escobar and Spruill have two. My guess is Scott gets the first crack at it.
Also, as noted, Logan Allen expected to debut today.

Logan Allen is indeed starting.

Would have liked to have caught Allen's start. Saw him walking about the dugout several times, but only picture got of him he turned his head as was snapping it and it's of side of his face and his beard.
Want to add this funny note on what saw/heard over the weekend:
One of the pitchers (not to be named) was upset they didn't get to reach their pitch limit and was going to have to finish up after the game with their allotted amount. Thought it was comical, players gripe at all levels.

Logan Allen pitched a clean inning with one K.

I know it doesn't really matter in the long run, but does Benintendi ride out the year in Lowell no matter what?

I know it doesn't really matter in the long run, but does Benintendi ride out the year in Lowell no matter what? I'm guessing he'll get some playing time in Greenville, but realistically he's in Salem to start 2016 either way.

I know it doesn't really matter in the long run, but does Benintendi ride out the year in Lowell no matter what? I can't imagine he doesn't move up to Greenville and start in Salem next year (or at least get an early season promotion). Is he really going to move slower than Sam Travis when he's hitting dingers like crazy and walking 20+% of the time?

Benintendi has a .244/.417/.556 slash with a .212 BABIP (through three ABs today). If that BABIP were a totally reasonable .333? He'd be at .333/.483/.644. His .973 OPS is artificially low by like 150 points.

I know it doesn't really matter in the long run, but does Benintendi ride out the year in Lowell no matter what? Keith Law's thoughts on the subject (from his ESPN chat, today): "Yes. SEC player of the year/best hitter should be ready for high-A right out of the draft, so I'd think about sending him to Salem."

Sam Travis was promoted on August 1 last year. Seems a reasonable projection for Benintendi. Could see Meyers moving up at that time to open the roster spot and Guzman going back on the phantom DL.
Pretty much clear he starts next year in Salem.

I would rather not have him skip Greenville this year unless they thought he could begin next year in Portland, which I doubt they are counting on.
No reason to aggressively push him, although he is way too advanced for rookie ball. I'm just happy he's crushing it.

GCL game with a rain-shortened win. Kyri Washington with another nice game: 2-3, HR, 2RBI, BB, K.

That seems an appropriate placement for the best hitter in college baseball.

Time for another funny story from over the weekend from Fort Myers.. This time was Dave Strom ragging on Luis Basabe:
He called basabe down stairs to where he sat onto a chair.. Have figured out Strom is a joker already.. Strom asked Basabe.. "How many HR you got?" and basabe didn't know what to say, so Strom repeated it.. Finally Basabe said "none".. THEN Strom said.. How come we got the SORRY brother, when Lowell got the good one, that has 6HR and never gets hurt? You're always hurt and don't hit HR!! Basabe started laughing and said something about some of the guys having 6 combined.. Didn't catch it all, I leaned head over rest of the way and was really laughing and asked if he was always such a hard-as$, to which he said.. "it's true!" laughing and pointing at him.
Got to help lighten up the games with coaches like Strom.

Zunino got rushed and it killed him. AJ Reed played it at a normal rate and has become a good prospect.

I thought Sam Travis might have started this season at Portland, so I think Benintendi either will start there or end up there by June.

Benintendi, for a small guy his amount of HR power is pretty incredible.

Context it was taken in, it sure did and think Basabe thought so also, especially how saw Strom joking with others.. Like when asked Valentin "you busy, I'd like a picture" while Dave was close to him and had already been chatting with Dave off and on multiple times all weekend.. Dave said out loud to me "him, busy? You have to be joking!" It's like I said.. Dave seems to lighten up the mood and him picking on Luis was just that.. Good old fashioned light hearted humor.. At his expense...
