Kind of a bummer with no tv broadcast of the Salem game tonight and Buttrey going.

If Owens didn't have the ugly BB rate, his WHIP would be pretty impressive.

If Owens didn't have the ugly BB rate, his WHIP would be pretty impressive. I've convinced myself he was working on that slider early in the season, so I'm not too concerned. Looking forward to the next few starts, to see if he's put a lot of it together.

Looking forward to the next few starts, to see if he's put a lot of it together. Wasn't paying really close attention to his start today, but what I did Norm, was his curve ball getting hit hard a couple of times, like the double that went down the LF line for 2 runs in the 3rd was a slow and loopy one that seemed as though may have been over the center of the plate.

One of the more impressive pitching performances at GCL this year, Bautista going 6 shutout innings allowing only three hits. This kid had a 0.96 ERA in the DL last year. Spring scouting report said his FB was 93-95. I wonder what it is now?

Jose Zacarias (5IP H, 0ER, BB, 10K) and Darwinson Hernandez started today for the DSL. Makes sense - both Reyes and Raudes pitched in the All-Star Game on Sunday, so probably just flipping them with the above guys, who we'd pegged as tomorrow's starters, to get them an extra day.

If Owens didn't have the ugly BB rate, his WHIP would be absurd pretty impressive. WHIP 1.14, 4th in IL, the 3 guys ahead of Owens (Johnson 2nd) have 26-30 BB in 84-95IP, vs Owens with 55BB in 116 IP. so yeah, with a lower walk rate like the other good pitchers, he would be absurd!

David Lee @david11lee After showing a plus-plus arm and plus glove, Javier Guerra hits one of the more impressive homers at Augusta this year. Right-center. 3-2 G

Hamstring tightness for Marrero, per McPherson. Hamstring tightness or "Hamstring tightness"?

Jose Zacarias (5IP H, 0ER, BB, 10K) and Darwinson Hernandez started today for the DSL. Did we always have so many impressive pitching performances in the DSL and GCL or is it legitimate to think there are some very impressive arms down there? Not counting Espinoza of course...

It's not usually this good, but they are also facing like high school level/age hitters in large part, so they can get away with lots of things that won't play at higher levels including 80mph fastballs, spotty control, only having two pitches, etc. That said, I think it's likely that at least one or three of those guys has some value going forward, and is better than we might have expected a month ago.
