We are officially in last place in the American League. It's time to blow this up. I want to see change. I was the first person to stick up for every move that Farrell and the FO ever made but this is getting rediculous. I don't care what they do, but do something. Get rid of all of the dead weight and start trying youth. NOW. Target a few of the young guys build around them and take the extra pieces and get some starting pitching. If Kelly makes one more start I will throw my ball threw my TV. Figure out how to get Bradley ABs or trade him. It's so unbelievably frustrating.

Jon Heyman is reporting two of the three pieces are pitchers Jeff Hoffman and Miguel Castro. The deal is making sense for Colorado because they have to draft and acquire young pitching through trades with free agents adverse to signing there. For Toronto its still a bit questionable even though they upgraded a bit at SS they also need pitching and gave away two decent prospects without getting any MLB ready arms back.

Whatever you want to say about Anthroupolous, that dude has stones. I've generally liked most of the moves he's made and think he has another one or two in him.

Actually really like this trade for the Jays, Tulo is an upgrade for them this year and next, by subtracting Reyes they're only adding 50 million in commitments (and that is more in the future so it works out to be less than a 50 million dollar effect). People will say the Jays needed pitching, but a run is a run, and if this trade cost less than it would have to improve their pitching staff by the same amount of runs it was the right one, or if they still have more moves to come on that front it was a good one.
Also, swapping out a greater bat to your lineup is more valuable than just the individual number of runs, as it gives the other bats in the lineup greater opportunity to produce runs. You could argue that a pitcher saves the other pitchers for later in the season, making them more effective, but on an obvious per game basis the non-linear nature of lineups producing runs may have a greater effect.

I think the Jays looked at the division, looked at their remaining schedule with 13 games against the MFY, and looked at the MFY's pitching staff and said... this is reachable.

It's even "nuttier" vs LHPs (Oh crap! We could start next season with 3 to 4 southpaws in the rotation!) We're doomed!

So that means anyone who was trying to get him is now on the clock for Holt, right?

Sox claim RP Jean Machi off waivers from SF. The 33-year old right-hander had two real good years with SF in 2013 (3-1, 2.38) and 14 (7-1, 2.58) but had been quite hittable this year (1-0, 5.14). Got knocked around a bit in the post season last year as well.

Holt is not close to the player Zobrist is. Obviously I'm in favor of dealing him but I wouldn't get all excited just yet.

^ This. Zobrist has a track record of consistency (he literally has posted the same OBP in 2013, 2014, and this year) that Holt lacks. Zobrist may be a rental compared with Holt, who has oodles of team control remaining, but there is a certain element of fear that Holt may change back into a pumpkin that there isn't with Zobrist.
Plus, given all of the team control with Holt, there's also less incentive to move him if you think his performance this season is legit.
