Whatever happened with him? Any updates on what he's doing? People forget we have him, had very good upside

He's never going to play for the Sox again, trust me.

He's been more valuable to us this year than Sandoval. So that's pretty cool for him.

I was thinking the same thing about him a few months back. I understand what he did, but what was he like 19 when he was pulled over. I am not a fan of entitled athletes but does that mean he gets blackballed from the game? Was he released or do the Sox still own his rights? If its the later then can we use him as throw in at the very least?

It wasn't just the drinking and driving. I think there was another incident involving the sox staff that was the final straw. If I remember correctly, details about that sketchy, so people who know something might be reluctant to talk because they could be way off.
His value in a trade is nonexistent.

From the catching preview to this season:
He's a never-was. Move on folks, nothing to see here.

All I can say is it's not one incident. There is no chance he gets another shot with the Red Sox unless something drastic happens.
Forget he exists.

Just read his Twitter to get an idea of his immaturity/randomness: twitter.com/JonDenney26 . He's young, but it seems to go beyond that. There's a reason he dropped in the draft... some teams did their homework and pulled up some big red flags.

There's a reason he dropped in the draft... some teams did their homework and pulled up some big red flags. It was pretty out there.. Could be attributed to being told by every coach telling him he's got "the gift" and they simply don't have to follow the rules of simple mortals (everyone else, like most every sports athlete thinks anyway and some act like as it is.. Or it could be that he's simply one of those millennials that think he's a holier than though that thinks the world owes him any damn thing he wants and pee on every one else that an alarming number seem to have in common of them.

I believe in redemption. If Jon shakes his demons, reforms his attitude, works hard and begs for forgiveness, why not give him another chance? Being on top of the heap, then losing it all because of bad habits can sometimes be a motivator.
I'm not holding my breath on his return, but it's not like we can't use a talented catcher.

Got to agree with this. I don't think it will happen, he still doesn't seem to be showing much maturity or introspection, but essentially a teenager. Teenagers can be among the dumbest critters on earth. It's a wonder so many (me included) survive at all.

There's an old saying [and I'm just the person to know it!] that goes like "The smartest person in the World is a high school senior. Just ask them -- they'll tell you."
That being said, there appear to be things going on in Jon's psyche that go far beyond being a wise ***.
