We needed a thread for the 2015 7th overall pick.
Seriously, why is this guy still in Lowell? He is too advanced for NY-Penn league pitching, and with the season winding down I think it's a good idea to get his feet wet with a promotion.
I'm also happy to see that he is still hitting for power with a wood bat, albeit in a small sample size. It was something I was worried about when he was drafted, based on his lack of track record and small stature.

It's about time we had one of these. He's a bust as a hitter, lets try him as a pitcher.

We've been very conservative this year. The only arguably quick non-relief pitching promotion was Margot.

He's got a 147 wRC+, 19:14 BB:K ratio and he's hitting for power, plus mostly getting the ball in the air. I'd say that's good enough to push him to Greenville for a couple of weeks, the outfield there isn't anything special for now

He'll start next year in Salem whether he gets promoted or not. Complaining about a 3week promotion is silly

He'll start next year in Salem whether he gets promoted or not. Complaining about a 3week promotion is silly Probably, but it couldn't hurt to get him some exposure to more advanced pitching for a few weeks. They've also been oddly conservative all year with promotions: don't get why Moncada wasn't moved to Salem a couple weeks ago

Just seeing those things and having the off season to absorb them into memory for next year is a good thing. I'm always in favor of ending the season at the next level IF that player is almost certainly going to get promoted there next year anyway.

I'm not going to waste my time looking up examples, but I'm pretty confident that promotions like these are fairly common. Maybe if it was going to happen it would of happened already. I just can't understand why he is still in Lowell, but I guess I'm complaining again.

FWIW, "Why is this guy still in Lowell?" reads like you're complaining.

Aside from the stats, there's also the issue Ian talked about on the latest SoxProspects podcast where he is not challenged enough by the pitching. The dynamic is that he goes up there, gets into a hitter's count, and then swings for the fences, which has led to his high-power/lots of popups (and thus low BABIP) stat line). I don't think it's a huge deal either way (as discussed, there's only three weeks left in the season), but all signs point to the fact that he's not being challenged by his current level.

He needs to take the ab's more seriously. You cant just get up there and try to swing for the fences. When you get into a hitters count theres countless other things you should do than just get bored. That cant be a good sign no matter what way you look at it he does not deserve a promotion.

FWIW, "Why is this guy still in Lowell?" reads like you're complaining. Cripes, it's a question, clearly marked with a question mark..... It should be read as..... "Why is this guy still in Lowell?".... The purpose of the question was to progress a discussion about the player, I followed it up with reasons why I think he shouldn't be in Lowell, none of which were meant to be taken as a grievance. Examples of a complaint would of been "I hate that passive assignment"... "They are ruining his development keeping him there"... "The podcast is terrible since they took out turkey facts"... I feel like I'm getting nit picked here, so I'm just comfortable nit picking right back. This is much closer to complaining.

Say 'why isn't my dinner on the table?' to your mom/significant other and see if they think that's complaining.

For the record, while the gobble gobble sound effect was awesome, I always thought the turkey facts themselves were pretty meh.

I'm with you, but you have to keep in mind that on the internet there's no tone of voice or other things that can help determine the exact nature of what you type. I didn't read it as complaining.

Just explaining how the post read - it looked like a rhetorical question, not a real one. I've been guilty on numerous occasions of my tone getting completely lost in translation. Just trying to help out. Also, you just made my day.

And FWIW, the plural of Nintendo is NintendosI'm 95% sure there was a Salem Youth Soccer team in my U8 league called the Nintendos, now that you mention it. There were also Ewoks and Klingons; I was on the Dragons. In hindsight, the league was clearly being run by a bunch of huge sci-fi/fantasy nerds.

If this is what it's like in here, has there been any eye gauging or kicks to the groin in the gameday threads?

If the stats don't prove it, and the scouting reports don't prove it, there must be some pretty clear evidence he is not too advanced for the level. Mind sharing it?

My magnificent first ever multi-quote post that I was so pleased with and wished to display to the masses got dragged out of here and placed into another forum where no one is ever to see it — what's up with that? And if you would instruct me that it was off topic — I'll remind that the very first word of the OP's post was "Seriously," thus establishing a tone of exasperation from word one, and it was on that tone that I was commenting.
I'll ask secondly, if my hypothesis as to the reason for my post being banished is correct, then why weren't all other posts mentioning the OP's complaining treated thus?
As to Why isn't the youngster yet promoted — he hasn't earned it yet. At least not by results.
Seriously, why do so many ache for the boys to get promoted without first demonstrating measurable excellence where they presently perform?
