Thanks for the link. Wonder if it was a fibular avulsion from the LCL. He looked good coming back to hit a 3-run bomb tonight.

With all the health issues and the playoff race it seems like Benintendi still is sliding under the radar some. 82 AB with 9 doubles now folks, 1 triple and 2 dingers. That is real decent pop and he's still 22 years old. All this kid does is put up tremendous numbers for the last 2 years. He comes up from AA ready to play and he gets hurt bad and overcomes it. It sure looks like we have another stud for the core going forward. I think this might be our best lineup ever and yeah, I've seen a lot of them. Going forward for the remainder of this year, I'd stack this lineup with any of them.

Am I the only one that gets a Yastrzemski vibe from Benny?

I think this might be our best lineup ever and yeah, I've seen a lot of them. Going forward for the remainder of this year, I'd stack this lineup with any of them. At the risk of getting off topic... Including lineups outside of most of our fandoms, 1950 is the best one in terms of runs scored. NINE hitters with at least 400 PA with OPS+ of 100 or higher. Plus a guy on the roster named Hatfield which is always a good sign. www.baseball-reference.com/teams/BOS/1950.shtmlAs for those I've seen, I'll take the '03-'04 lineups over this one, which isn't a knock on this one at all. When the AL batting champ is in the 7- or 8-hole most of the season, you've got a good lineup... At the pace this offense is scoring runs, it'll be top 10 all-time for the franchise, with a shot at top 5. In recent memory, topped only by the 2003-05 teams and 1996

I am talking about this lineup at this point in time, not for the season. Mookie, Hanley,. Ortiz, JBJ, Pedroia, Bogaerts all strong and guys like Benintendi, Young and Leon all contributing in a major way. This lineup is extremely well positioned for the playoffs, as are the pen and starting pitching.

Am I the only one that gets a Yastrzemski vibe from Benny? Reminds me of Freddie Lynn. Either way, if he turns out to be the second coming of one of them, we'll all be happy.

You know, comps are always kind of silly but they're especially silly when you're limiting yourself to guys who played for the same franchise.
I'll take Alex Gordon's peak as a reasonable upside for Beni.

Is it time to consider moving Beni (and even Young) up to the 6 spot? These left fielders are better hitters than the combo of Shaw/Hill.

There's normal rational human being time, and then there's JF time. His belief that JBJ benefits from hitting in the bottom third of the order is messing up the lineup, too.

Great comp...I hadn't thought of it, but that's probably pretty accurate. I think Benintendi will put up better averages/OBPs, but maybe similar power numbers, and a little less outstanding defense. Highly underrated player, though.

I have a basic question, so forgive me: when a prospect is said to have plus power, does this mean simply home run projection or overall extra base hits? I ask re: Benny because I wonder if he is going to be a decent home run guy but a massive doubles guy -- that based not on much more than how undersized he looks. This is not at all a complaint, by the way -- I have bought into him completely as a potentially great player.
