He's also the reason (ok, one of about a million reasons) I could never be the general manager of a baseball team. Someone would give me all the logical reasons not to spend too much money on him and I'd just be "But watch him! I love that guy, he's just the best." And then my employer would be out like $180 million.

if we can give Porcello 4/82, surely we can offer Cueto 6/150? you only life once? unless some really irate sox fan comes after you.

Awful AB Hanley. Making it really hard to root for you. Can't imagine the what his season would look like without that monster April. Very disappointing.

So after the pitcher walks in a run, Hanigan swings at the first pitch.

Bradley's breakout is one of the biggest reasons I still try to catch every game even though the Sox are out of the playoff hunt. So fun to watch this happen.

JBJ was robbed of player of the week last week. Iwakuma got it for his one game no-hitter.
He currently has a 138 wRC+ with a .290 BABIP. Love how much he's walking too - 13.0%.

So after the pitcher walks in a run, Hanigan swings at the first pitch. Come on Dan! If there's only one hitter in this lineup than can't be critisized for his lack of patience, it's Hanigan...He's like the complete opposite of Sandoval. If you think you're getting a meat ball, swing no matter what the count is!

Boy, I so wanted Moustakas as a buy low player before the Ned Yost Revenge Tour last year. That swing is glorious.

offense seems to have gone into hibernation for the last three innings or so.
With our pen, we probably need a few more runs.

After speaking with multiple industry sources, Sean McAdam of CSN New England writes that four candidates for the Red Sox’ GM opening include former Braves GM Frank Wren, former Rockies GM Dan O’Dowd, former Angels GM/current Red Sox advisor Jerry Dipoto and Yankees assistant GM Billy Eppler. Wren has been oft-mentioned in the past few days, and O’Dowd has also popped up more recently in reports. Regarding Eppler, McAdam writes that he’s blocked in New York by Brian Cashman, and many expect him to land a GM job elsewhere this winter.

Miley looks really good tonight. Need a few more of these and a few less of the blowouts and he'll be just fine for us. At the very least, he's eating a lot of innings as advertised.

Is it wrong to long for a svelte third baseman?

Coming into tonight Wade Miley's FIP has been at 3.98 three years running. Given his fielding dependent ERA is around 4.50 and how bad the Red Sox defense has been, I'm inclined to think that sounds about right. Solid back-end starter.

Is it wrong to long for a svelte third baseman? Is it wrong to ask for a replacement level third baseman?

This is a little bit random, but right now Rusney's a better player than Hanley right?
