Looks like the DSL RS2 won. GCL RS also clinched the playoffs today.

Looks like the DSL RS2 won. GCL RS also clinched the playoffs today. GCL has clinched at least a tie for the division (and a play-in game). Magic number to clinch the division outright is 1.

Berry opts out, Bianchi added back to PawSox roster. Porcello also added on rehab assignment. I suppose Berry didn't have much trade value with that opt out. They would have had to bring him up and trade him to a contender that had room before 9-1 on their 25-man.
EDIT: Of course, they cannot do that, as he would not clear waivers. He needed to be traded while a minor leaguer.
8/27/13 Boston Traded Clayton Mortensen to Kansas City for Quintin Berry
EDIT: Mortensen has been awful this year in PCL. Cannot throw strikes.

The Greenville line-up is absurd, and Moncada isn't even playing tonight.

Chavis & Devers each had 2 doubles, too.

Benintendi 3-4, BB Devers 2-4, 2 2B, HBP Chavis 2-3, 2 2B (no Ks), HBP, SF
Benintendi is going to have some serious hype by year's end. He may push top 25 status. He just does it all, and prolifically at that. Walks, never Ks, hits for power, can run.
Devers is starting to heat it up a bit.
Chavis is having a great second half. As someone said earlier (Norm maybe?) he needs to become a better 2 strike hitter and learn to protect the plate, because he could still be an impact player if he cuts down on Ks.

Being selfish here. Potomac is 40min. Short notice flights to Greenville are expensive.

it would be nice to see Beni in Sept in the playoffs with Greenville. Greenville is 1.5 games back with 16 to go. Asheville had a game cancelled, so there won't be a tie (assuming no more cancellations). With respect to the other affiliates: DSL2 and GCL each have a magic number of 1. Tomorrow is DSL2's final regular season game. Lowell is 2 games back with 18 to go. Salem has a tragic number of 1, and DSL1, Portland and Pawtucket have been eliminated from playoff contention.

In Pawtucket: Jorge Marban, age 26 (W, 2-0) 2.1 IP, 1H 0R 0BB 4K 1.42
Marban, Dayan Diaz, Cueto. All MILB free agents in October. I cannot believe the team will let the 3 of them walk. No reason they cannot get a Sept call-up if they aren't signed for '16.
