Lagares a better CF than JBJ you say? I'm not buying it. Me either.

At the game right now, my god my section hates me. JBJ & Blake all day!

I think JBJ ultimately ends up as something like a Rays-era BJ Upton with less power but more defense. Lot of swing and miss, but enough walks to give him a good OBP. That's a pretty damn good player. Not sure it's with us at the end of the day, but.

Mets announcers have it as being a standard HR anyway as it hit above the line. Went back to confirm on replay, definitely hit above the line.

The kids are becoming too good, costing the Sox a protected pick

The Mets' TV announcers were killing Cespedes for not making any effort to get over to CF to back up Lagares on the Swihart outside the park HR.
Tonight is about the kids brigade. Swihart, JBJ, Mookie and Xander all came through this inning. Owens was a mixed bag.

Swihart, Bradley, Mookie, Bogaerts doing all of this. Let's face it: If Dombrowski messes this up, this site will crucify him for it. These kids look like they might be sufficiently good that you CAN'T break them up.

From what I saw the umps on the field viewed Swihart's ball as being in play off the wall. Since he scored and nobody's going to challenge it, am I right in thinking that it will stand officially as an inside the park HR?

Since he scored and nobody's going to challenge it, am I right in thinking that it will stand officially as an inside the park HR? I'm not so sure. We see instances in which an official scorer changes a hit to an error or vice versa a day or two after the fact. I guess that could happen here. But who knows? It's the first time any of us (I think) have seen this particular missed call.

Swihart sure looks like a potential all star catcher someday soon. He performed well at every level and seemed to finish strong. Looks like a guy who figures things out well and he will be in the highlight reel tonight for sure, as a catcher who can run. Loving the kids this year and if you asked me last spring if I would be happy with this level of performance overall from the kids I would say yes. We'll take it.
Edit: Notice how fast Swihart got out of the box on that hit. The kid has great "Pedey" type attitude. Slams the ball and knows it's maybe extra bases and milks every base with hustle.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think whether the ball goes out of the park is the official scorer's call. I believe the umpire needs to call that by rule.

Can't believe Breslow just got up. Not a Breslow fan but Tazawa appears hurt.

Never thought I'd say this, but they need to get Breslow in there.
