why isnt Layne in vs Didi? re-inforced bullpen tomorrow. hopefully. Should have used Layne for Drew to start the inning. Fortunately, Machi Magic saved the night.

Dave Dombrowski - just the man to fix a morbid bullpen.

Hate to say it, but we're seeing some warts on E.Rodriguez - he's not ready and needs to work on his slider

If the Red Sox had a decent bullpen they would possibly be 5-6 games out of the wild card heading into September.

Need to add 3~4 good bullpen arms for next season.

maybe this is where we get the DeAza announcement.
Aro pitched 2 innings tonite, so he is out for 9/1.

DD needs to sign a minimum of two solid veteran BP guys this off-season and then bring in a slew of guys to sort through. Barnes should be in that mix to compete for a BP job, since he doesn't look like a starter.
We simply don't have a quality power BP arm in the organization.

To think that if BC had picked up Will Harris, he might still have a job

I'd like to be given the opportunity to take back all the nice things I said about Machi. He doesn't paint the corners so much as smear them, like a road-marking crew on an acid trip. His control comes and goes like the wind in this part of the world. I must have been dreaming.

A good bullpen is good for the heart.

“@scottlauber: Despite lack of control in white-knuckle ninth, Jean Machi will remain in closer role, according to Lovullo. #RedSox” Ross should be the closer, but I'd rather have him in his presumed role next year anyway.

This team won't finish with a protected pick. Too good now with the younguns. Knock the Yanks out of the playoffs!

I really think that they need to get an option for Koji. He's 40 years old coming off injury and we have no answer if he goes down. Allmost scary how bad this pen is. Breslow is the least scary guy down there right now.

I really hope they DL Tazawa and start using Aro more. Why would you DL someone after Sept 1st? I don't think he should be pitching. He's gassed. He's not helping the team and he's arguably he most overworked reliever in baseball. It's not like we're in a playoff race. Let him rest for a while.

We're bringing up four guys. Craig, Ryan Cook, Noe Ramirez and Sandy Leon. Is it possible to get worse with four additions? Mercy

Shaw could have fielded the hit he gave up.

Time to see Porcello again. Was his last start against the White Sox a fluke? Or has he figured something out?

Time to see Porcello again. Was his last start against the White Sox a fluke? Or has he figured something out? I'd bet on him before betting on Kelly. Porcello looked like the old Porcello in his last start. And an unrelated question - has anyone heard anything about Wright? It has been a long 7 day DL for him. Is his concussion that bad?
