Dylan Bundy missed all of 2013 with TJ recovery, but has only thrown ~60 innings in the last two years. Pretty sure he's also out of options after this year, no?

He would've been on the major league 60-day DL in 2013, so he should have one option remaining.

Brian Butterfield speaking about Hanley conversion to 1st base: I don't know about you guys but using the word "thinking" beside Hanley's name make me really nervous!

9K's is nice, but 97 pitches through 5 = not so much. Is he done for the night?

It would be nice if the offense could get him a run or two. Or if Rutlege made a better play in the first. This is twice that kid got E-rod. A couple of games ago he was leading 4-2 and the kid let a double play ball go thru his legs.

"Strike 2" was 2 inches low and away. "Strike 3" was about a foot outside to JBJ.

The offense has been dead cold since Allen Craig's arrival. Or at least I'd like to think so.

Damn this board is pretty dead... must be the football effect. I'd like to see a rotation of Price, Buchholz, Porcello, Rodriguez and Miley going into next season. Then they can rebuild the bullpen and go from there.

This is playing out the string and enjoying the progress that the kids make.

Was at the game last night, pretty boring as baseball games go ... but it was a beautiful evening, the BBQ was good in Baltimore before the game, and the beer was pretty good. You go to a crappy basketball game, and it's a bad time. But pretty much any baseball game is enjoyable for me.
Now, one practical thing: JBJ's swing is better, for sure, without all that hitching and tapping. But my impression was that it has more horizontal movement toward the mound than I noticed just watching him on TV. It's in line with the pitch, but there's just quite a bit of it, a lot of forward momentum. I came away thinking that contributes to low contact rates (but better-than-you'd-think power). He'll have to learn how to stay back well on off-speed pitches with that much forward movement, though.
Don't take that too much to heart, though. I was just hanging out with my kids, so I wasn't watching all that carefully. It's just a first impression ...

I can attest, however, after meeting them in Potomac and watching some of that game with them, that at least one of Brian's kids is perhaps the most attentive at a baseball game I've ever seen. 65-70 grade focus for his age with potential to improve barring the potential downfalls of the addition of a smartphone.

Why you have to mention in every Podcast that "you're not a scout"? This is as good as scouting report could get Mr. Hatfield!

"Strike 2" was 2 inches low and away. "Strike 3" was about a foot outside to JBJ. I'd love to see managers get 9-10 challenges per game. Like tennis. Wouldn't slow down the game. Batters usually step out after a bad call. Anyway

I'm back and forth on Chris Davis as FA target. Do we want him at big $ big years?

Its very nice to have Pedroia back at the top of the lineup. When he's healthy, that man is one of the best 2B in the league.
