I note that Espinoza and Kopech have been assigned to the F.I. L. Looking forward to reports on the roster and other developments from the Fort.

I hope that Hannable can pick up where Speier left off on WEEI; good coverage on the minor leagues.

Alex Speier @alexspeier 19m19 minutes ago Few surprises but plenty of notable names on Red Sox' instructional league roster: Moncada, Benintendi, Espinoza, Kopech, and more.

No Devers or Guerra. Interesting.

No Devers or Guerra. Interesting. We believe both are going to the strength and conditioning camp, which is held during the fourth and final week. I know that Ball and likely several of the Salem pitchers are going to that as well. It makes sense that they'd give the guys who just finished their first full season, if they in fact played the full season, a break. I'll post the s&c camp list later if I can confirm it.

So is Baldwin back to being a catcher? (I know he caught a few games last year.) And Spoon was not re-converted back to OF, I take it?

Christopher Acosta, Victor Diaz (wonder if they meant Jonathan which was reported elsewhere), Darwinzon Hernandez, Denyi Reyes, Stanley Espinal, and Lorenzo Cedrola representing guys from the DSL this year. Maybe some indication as to who may be stateside next year. Of course Espinoza and Raudes started the year in the DSL and were stateside by the end of the season.

Nobody can do what Speier does. He brought back the minors in a big way. I laugh when I listen to Bradford talk about the minors. very unimpressed. Tomase doesn't do any justice to weei.com
Tomase still pissed at the Patriots for spygate when he got exposed. He doesn't bring anything for the Red Sox.Only this site and Speier

Jhonathan will probably be there rehabbing, and thus not in the roster. For those wondering, our report also has the schedule. news.soxprospects.com/2015/09/2015-fall-instructional-league-rosters.html

Other than a report in another thread that Espinosa was impressive in a 2 inning appearance, I have heard nothing about how the Instructional League is going. Does anyone have any information?

Just a note that I went down to the Instructional game at Jet Blue today and watched Kopech work. He went 4 innings and may have gone more if not for a short, 10 minute rain delay. He and Espinoza could be twins as far as generating effortless velocity is concerned. If the Sox coaches worked with him on repeating his delivery the last few months, it worked. IMO, his balance and finish were very good. Only one ball was hit hard off him and that was a line drive by a lefty to third. His FB ran 95-99 with late jump and his CB and slider sat around 82. If Pedro can teach him a changeup that stays down, with his arm speed he'll be stupid good. Like Espinoza, you can just see the athleticism in this kid. Nice rhythmic half windup and the ball just explodes out of there. Without Moncada and Benintendi playing, there were only a couple potential hitters that I saw. Basabe and DeLaGuerra look like they might have a shot but not much else. I'm sure opinions may vary but that's one guy's view.

Great news. I love his fastball. If he can command it's 80 grade pitch. Really really explosive.

Thanks for your news from the instructional league. Any other insights you can offer from the instructional league would be very welcome. None of the mainstream media seem to be covering it at all.

None of the mainstream media seem to be covering it at all. There isn't much to cover. It's basically another month of minor league spring training/extended.

Great news. I love his fastball. If he can command it's 80 grade pitch. Really really explosive. Oh yeah maybe its a little easier for him now cuz he is off of that weight loss stuff that ended up getting him in trouble, He was supposedly trying to gain weight so i bet he was pretty happy to find out what the heck was going on with his body at least. That would drive anyone crazy.

Thanks for the report. Not being able to watch Kopech's progress was one of the more disappointing aspects of this year (speaking of the minor league side, obviously).
