2016 projected rosters thread

With the Paw Sox Christmas party just around the corner, I've started to think about what the 2016 Pawtucket Red Sox might look like when they take the field in April. Last year was a huge disappointment for the Pawtucket faithful. Not only was news of the team moving hovering over McCoy all year, but injuries in Boston pushed prospects like Swihart, Rodriguez, Owens, and Brady to the Majors while other prospects like Coyle, Cecchini, and Brentz had career bad years. It was a complete bust of a season.
Other than Sam Travis, there doesn't seem to be much hope of players coming up from Portland to help the 2016 Paw Sox. And unless Coyle/Cecchini/Brentz can turn things around, I'm not too optimistic that 2016 will be any more successful than 2015.
Any news or rumors that should give me reason for hope?

Help from Portland? No.
Depth from last year's club? Some, including Johnson, Owens, some bullpen arms, and either Swihart or CVaz.
Reasons for hope? Summer baseball is always good, regardless of the score. Some of the visiting teams will have some stars. There's a chance of seeing Benintendi and Moncada on the PawSox by August.

Other than Owens and Johnson returning to the Pawtucket Sox, yea, there's not too much to hope for. No Margot to look forward to. Oh, well, enjoy the Christmas party.

Bledsoe got hurt.

Meant to type Bradley.

Whoops. Meant to type Bradley. LOL, I was wondering why you would associate a Yankee fan with the PawSox.

I hear their first baseman and their closer will be really interesting to watch.

Marco Hernandez could be a pleasant surprise. He had a decent pedigree when he came over from the Cubs.
The one I'm most 'curious' about is Rosenbaum who we got in TJ recovery mode for Butler.

Cuevas will continue to be someone watch for me personally, I enjoyed watching him pitch last year in AA. As Philsbosoxfan said, Hernandez will be fun.
Seeing if Coyle and Cecchini can rebound will be interesting.

Definitely Sam Travis. Maybe Jerez in pen... I'm also hoping to see something from Coyle or Brentz this year. I'd love to see Owens show better control.
I'm most excited to see Vasquez come back healthy and show off his arm again!!

I hope johnson's arm troubles are behind him and he is really to go in spring training.

I hope johnson's arm troubles are behind him and he is really to go in spring training. Pawsox may be in between amazing waves of prospects but there is still so much to see while waiting, as said above. CV and Leon catching Owens, Johnson, Cuevas, Light, Hembree, Aro, Noe R., Marban. Travis and Hernandez establishing their value. The bats of Brentz, Cecchini, Coyle, Marrero. Maybe even Benintendi or other top prospects by year end. This could be a good, under the radar team and interesting to follow.

The Vazquez and Workman rehabs will be a couple of interesting angles to follow with the PawSox.

I'm expecting that the Minor League Hot Stove will start to heat-up a little over the next few weeks. The Red Sox were understandably more focused on constructing their Major League roster by trading for Kimbrel, signing Price, and dealing for Smith than on finding a center fielder for the Paw Sox for 2016.
I wasn't surprised that the Red Sox decided to move-on from Cecchini, although he could have been a critical part of the 2016 Paw Sox if he was able to bounce back from two disappointing seasons and hit again.
We'll have to see if Brentz and Coyle make it through Spring Training in a Red Sox uniform and if any team could show interest in Allen Craig if he has a strong Grapefruit League showing.
I'm a bit more optimistic in the possibility of the Pawtucket Red Sox remaining in Pawtucket now than I was a few months ago. The new leadership group announced that they are going to start a Paw Sox Hall of Fame (it would be a strange move to start a Hall of Fame on your way out of town) and Dr. Charles Steinberg seemed genuinely interested in fan concerns and ideas at the Christmas Party. I suppose that only time will tell, but I'm hoping that they will stay at McCoy.

The Vazquez and Workman rehabs will be a couple of interesting angles to follow with the PawSox. l would think the initial rotation of (3 of the 4) Owens, Johnson, Elias, Kelly---plus Couch & maybe Barnes if they want to stretch him out would be worth watching.

It's the Allen Craig show now, boys.
Interesting factoid, over the next two years, Allen Craig will play at McCoy, and will earn about the same amount of money as either a.) the original construction cost of the stadium (adjusted for inflation) or b.) the 1990's renovations to the park (also adjusted to 2015 dollars for inflation!

When we traded for him & Kelly, everyone said Craig was on a favorable contract, then it slowly eroded to where it now. I thought about this the other day when the NYY traded for Starlin Castro. Just last year, his contract looked bad. Now...it's OK....If he digresses at all, he may be another Craig as he is on a similar deal..No one expected Craig to fall like this either.

When we traded for him & Kelly, everyone said Craig was on a favorable contract, Literally nobody said that. Not true, I remember distinctly that he was considered a bargain based on his 2012-2013 seasons. How could he not? Then he struggled in 14 and the rest is history.

Saw that Sean O'Sullivan has been signed to a PawSox deal.
He was 1-6 6.08 with the Phillies in 2015 and 5-2 3.20 with Lehigh Valley (AAA)
