Chris Cotillo @chriscotillo Orioles trade Brian Matusz and the 76th overall pick to the Braves for minor league RHP Brandon Barker & LHP Trevor Belicek.
Braves loading up on draft picks.
Jon Heyman @jonheyman braves are DFAing matusz after acquiring him, as @mlbbowman suggested. Atl did deal for pick No. 76 and draft $ allotment

Not only does Clayton Kershaw have 3 shutouts in the month of May, but his season K/BB ratio is 95/5.

Here's a teaser quote from that interview. Really brilliant stuff. Hill has come through the dark days of his early career and emerged from that period with a much better understanding of who he is, and how he should pitch:

I guess I didn't realize that there aren't rules in place for this. 120 pitches for 12 year olds?

Teixiera out with "neck spasms". Anyone know what that entails? There was talk early in the year he wanted to play another 4 years with the Yankees. Isn't $190 million enough to live on these days. I can't understand some of these guys not wanting to retire, spend time with family. He loves to hunt, fish, & play golf. Hang 'em up while he can still walk.

I wouldn't assume that it's about the money. Unlike most of us, he presumably really likes his job. Baseball is what he has poured his heart and soul into just about every day of his adult life. It's not easy to walk away from that.

As someone who umpired a lot of little league, i know in the most recent stretch in which I was doing that back home in Salem, NH, in the summer of 2014, they did have the kids on pitch counts - the coaches had clickers and had to double-check their numbers every inning and everything. It was great.

It's not easy to walk away from that. I agree with you to an extent. Up until about 20 years ago guys would really have to play until someone showed them the door because salaries aren't what they are now. I would imagine every big leaguer has that desire to keep playing like you said. Tex has been on the shelf MANY times over the past few years. You'd think mentally he would have prepared himself that this would be his last year. It would be a shame, with his career, to see him as a shell out there & someone having to show him the door.

MLB Pipeline @mlbpipeline 23m23 minutes ago After Slade Heathcott's release, @swbrailriders OF @jakecave8 enters @yankees' Top 30 list: atmlb.com/1p28jMC I usually don't root for someone to fail but I'll make an exception for Heathcott. He once attacked CVaz while CVaz was still crouched in a Drive game. (Then got his butt kicked from an ex-footballer whose name I forget).

I thought it was a situation where the pitcher was going to hit Heathcott and CV warned him, and Heathcott said "tell the pitcher to not hit me or else I'm going to kick your ass" (paraphrasing) and when Slade came at CV sideways, Brandon Jacobs laid him out.

Yes Brandon Jacobs. I don't recall any quotes about what happened besides the HBP that we see in the video. One of the better baseball fights, Heathcott and Jacobs are pretty big but Heathcott got his bottom beat.

Amazing Brandon Jacobs is out of baseball......He played Indy ball last year, nothing about this year. Saw him play in 2013 for Salem & looked very toolsy, good power/speed. Thornton gave us 15 (fair) IP in 2013 & he was gone in 2014.

An especially bad day for the Royals. That collision in foul territory knocked Gordon and Moustakas out. The latter has a torn ACL and, while KC is trying to finesse it, he may be out for the season. Both those guys are a big part of who they are as a team, so it's a huge blow.

If you had to bet based on this pic, which would you think injured his wrist and which his ACL ? A shame, that's a ton of talent.

I think that's a contender for the worst collision in MLB history based on: Actual damage sustained / Damage you thought might be sustained watching it.

Syndergaard was ejected for throwing behind Utley. The pitch wasn't that close, it's a shame he didn't have better control for that one pitch.

In terms of the ratio stated, thats about 1/1 because it looked terrible. Royals picture looks like some tripping and staggering.
