If the NL could get the DH as soon as the 2017 season, it significantly reduces the motivation for the Cubs to trade Kyle Schwarber. Other guys in that same boat include Matt Kemp, Andre Ethier, John Jaso, etc. And it makes Hanley a lot more valuable too, if he rebounds.

I'd be all for the Dh now,if I never had to root for Hanley again.

Other guys in that same boat include Matt Kemp, Andre Ethier, John Jaso, etc. It just makes the game better on both sides of the ball. If you're seeing the Cubs in 2017, who would you rather see play in the OF for the Cubs, Schwarber or probable rookie defensive whiz Albert Almora (likely with Heyward in RF and Soler in LF)? And of course, you're seeing Almora hit instead of Lester, etc. The rule not only provides a necessary, massive upgrade at the weakest spot in the batting order, but as a byproduct, a significant upgrade at (usually) the weakest defensive position. I know that the latter defends some purists, but it's unavoidable if you fix the big problem, and, oh yeah, BTW, it makes the game better to watch, not worse.

Man think how much better baseball would be if instead of David Ortiz, Edgar Martinez and Frank Thomas over the last 25 years, we got to see Wilson Alvarez sacrifice Ron Karkovice to second base and stuff like that.

This is upsetting. Theo has to be a little pissed.
Edit: Ah, my apologies for not posting this in this thread originally. Thanks for moving it!

Don't worry. We'll take care of it during the Constitutional Convention in 2017.

I'd like to think this would perhaps being a ploy for negotiation purposes for the next labor agreement as in the owners will capitulate and allow the DH in the NL in exchange for.... (perhaps for keeping some sort of free agent signing compensation like the QO as I'm sure the union would love to do away with that altogether)
