No promotions to Portland until you can walk across the outfield without hearing the crunch of ice.

According to Gameday, WV just sac bunted a man to second with one out....so either they're that desperate for a run against Espinoza or he tried for a hit and Gameday is wrong

So quiet on a night when Espinoza pitches? I'm letting the FIP-love sink in a little bit: He just refuses to walk people.

It also took him 29 PA to draw a walk. 1 BB (and one HBP) and 0 HR in 29 PA. Very discouraging. Of course, he also has 1 SO, 4 1B, 2 2B, and 4 3B for a .370 / .414 / 741 line. I guess that is pretty good. I don't think he's likely to sustain the 4:1 3B/SO ratio, though. If you're not even getting deep enough into the AB to create a true outcome, you're too advanced for the league. This. One would think he would be drawing walks but he isn't missing enough pitches to get there. Again, our top prospect. And it's not like his sample size from last season in college ball and the minors was all that small. The guy can make contact. Another Pedroia baseball rat.

Ian Browne saying Rusney is headed to Pawtucket

I saw both of Espinoza's starts on this opening homestand he wasn't as sharp tonight and his velo was down, 94-98 in the 1st start 91-95 tonight (mostly on the low end).
Asheville couldn't touch him last week, a lot of hard contact tonight
I'm not worried he's an 18 yr old kid he's going to have his nights where he doesn't have it

Ian Browne saying Rusney is headed to Pawtucket With the promotion of Rutledge (Pablo), they actually have enough depth (frees up Holt) to carry three catchers until closer to the trade deadline. Could be interesting even if a tad unusual.

Wait, which one is the good Basabe twin? Keep in mind that j is new to shortstop and isn't off to the best of starts defensively, he's got a lot on his plate right now.

Hopefully it's just the cold, but for a guy who averaged 96 last year (and around there in his first start this year), that's a troubling dip.

Yea a sharp drop in velocity is very concerning if real especially early in the year.
AB and Moncada are both in the wrong league talent wise but right place developmentally right now. Let them rake down there until the weather warms up a bit then ship them to Portland. Let's say 3-4 weeks from now.
